Hollinger is terrible, which is why it's so surprising he was right and everyone else was wrong.

Funny enough, he got hired midseason to work in the front office of the Grizzlies.

7th seed decimated by injuries, 6th seed, 5th seed. Let's not get too carried away, Spurs fans.

Carry this, bro.

In the highly competitive West, a grand total of two games separated the second seed from the fifth seed. I recall hearing confident predictions not so long ago of a Memphis-Miami Finals.

I said that Memphis would be an interesting matchup with Miami. I picked SA in the series against them though, although I didn't expect a sweep.

Pop essentially punted the end of the season, losing 3 games in a row, while the 3rd, 4th, & 5th seeds won 3, 7, & 2 games to end the season because they were playing for something. In reality there was about a 5 game difference between OKC/SA and everyone else, and Westbrook's injury torpedoed their chances. Spurs haven't played a particularly good team yet, at least by playoff standards.

You are still trying to rationalize why you feel SA is not an elite level team that can win a championship. 5 games is still a small gap. By these standards, MIA has only played teams that would be ranked 6th or lower in the West. If you want to include "playoff standards" then MIA played a sucky CHI team due to injuries. Indiana is a good matchup for MIA but it seems like everyone who was jumping on Memphis bus are doing the same with Indiana because they play a sound game. The only problem is that neither has the game changers.

Injuries was the main reason why SA hasn't gotten back to the Finals in a while. This team is not the same team as last year or previous years. It is an extremely well-balanced team in terms of youth, talent, veteran leadership, and playmaking ability.

lol what? I don't think it will easy series for either team if Miami gets there, but you're tripping with some of your comments.

Because mid to late 30's basketball players are usually just right to step into a sport they've never played and star at the games most important position. Stupid thiesman. lol

I remember when DET was going to wipe up SA because DET had beaten the Lakers the previous year.
I think it will be a similar toss up series and a type of team this MIA squad has yet to play in the playoffs.

Oh yeah, that sorry SA/Det series. People outside of Detroit and SA didn't give a s**t about that one.

Which is a shame, because some of those games were really good.

But I don't remember predictions that Detroit would run away with it. I thought it was pretty evenly split. I may be garcing it up though.

You remember correctly. I don't know what he's talkin' about. I watched 3 games in that series, they were great. I had miss the other ones due to summer classes...but both of those teams aren't flashy but played good fundamental basketball.

SA matchup vs MIA is about as exciting as it gets. OKC last year was interesting but Brooks coaching was terrible and OKC wasnt ready in terms of maturity. It will be very interesting to see how Pop coaches against Lebron.
