Holy sh*t is his breaking ball effin insanity!

Not to mention his 100 mph fastball and his 92 mph changep. He already has the best stuff in the league.

I wonder how many pitchers have pitched in the majors. I'm not sure. What I am sure of is that Stephen Strasburg now has the most K's of any pitcher in history in his first 3 starts.

Pretty decent Stats in his 2 home starts.. 24 Ks 0 BBs

Nolan Ryan would have had 3 no hitters/ perfect games or at least 3 complete game shutouts

We might be witnessing history. I can't think of any other time a Guy has come in with this type of hype and actually performed.

Randy Johnson is my all time favorite pitcher... if Stras keeps this up GE might be up there with lincecum as my favorite pitchers in the league today

The thing thats amazing is that he has pitched in 3 nationally televised games with so much pressure and he seems oblivious to the whole thing. I hope they keep putting all his games on TV because he is really fun to watch.

the kid has pitched well so far, but you guys need to calm down. everyone is jerking eachother off over how great he is. i hate when people spoil an interesting development in the game with unrealistic bias.

hes got incredible potential, but so did Mark Prior. you guys act like hes Superman or something. he has great stuff and can hit his spots. hes facing entire lineups of players who have NEVER seen his stuff before. what hes done so far is a no brainer. you could see it coming from a mile away.

ill be more interested and impressed if he can do it after the book is out on how to hit him. until a batter has seen what a pitcher throws, his release point, his tendencies, arm angle, etc, the pitcher always does well. theres a reason the more AB's between a pitcher/hitter the more it favors the hitter. the more pitches seen in an AB itself is advantage hitter.

i hate when people take something cool like a young phenom SP like Strasburg, with all the potential in the world coming into the majors and clashing with the real deal, and turn it into a media driven "potential" lovefest. why cant everyone just have common sense and be excited with some healthy skepticism...its the same with Dashon Goldson. hes overhyped to the point where i spend more time bringing him down than pulling for his potential.

Why do you really care if we are excited about Strasburg's stuff and love to watch him pitch? If you cant see that this kid has everything it takes to be one of the greats in this game then you dont know s**t about pitching.

You go crazy about Buster Posey who hasnt accomplshed anything close to what Strasburg has so far and think that he is already proven. Quite frankly I think you have gone way over the top so far on Buster for a guy that hasnt hit for power and right now is struggling some. Thats fine though. You are a fan and are excited about him. Just like some of us are with Strasburg.
My buddy who pitches at SC and who i think is pretty reliable source of info when it comes to this stuff says that Felix Hernandez had pretty much the same stuff coming out, and that when big leaguers are able to scout him and see his pitches come out of his hands a few times, EVERYTHING changes. After his first 30 starts is when you start seeing what he can become.

What do you guys think about that?

I dunno about that...Strasburg is a once in a lifetime kind of player..Albert Pujols-like..he's just REALLY good.

Felix was the runnerup in the AL Cy Young Award last year and was unreal for most of the year. He was awesome coming out as a rookie and he has proven to be that good.

However... as good as Felix is he still doesnt have 4 pitches as good as Strasburg has even now. I agree with James on this one.... Strasburg has the ability to be a once in a generation type of player. I dont think it takes 30 starts to see that.
Can't win 'em all I guess. He looked REALLY hittable today, despite his 9K's.

LOL He gave up 1 run and struck out 9 in 7 innings. He gave up some hits (all of which were singles) but REALLY hittable???? 9 singles, 0 walks, 1 run, and 9 ks in 7 is a darn good outing.

Yeah, but calling a roider like Pujols "once in a lifetime" deserves an asterisk.

Pujols a once in a lifetime player? Bah..... Pujols is great, but c'mon we've seen others put up similar and/or better numbers. Great? Yes. Consistent? Yes. Once in a lifetime? Nah.

He's like a dozen in a lifetime player.
