2010 Mexico's National Soccer Team

Forgive my lack of knowing... but when does the temporada start for Morelia? Are most of their games on Telemundo/Univision, do i need to get a sports package? Do we have a hated rival like America/Chivas?

That being said, when does the MLS start its season?

A word of caution, world cup futbol is the very best of the best. Its hard for me to watch regular season games of the any MLS team. UEFA cup/league, Copa American, and Euro Cups are almost at the world cup level and are a blast to watch. Also world cup qualifying games are also great.

here in the U.S. their games are on Tv Azteca/Azteca America. Last season they played Saturdays at 5 pm but this upcoming season they will play Sundays at noon. Yes, we have a hated rival, it is America and it is called "El Clasico de las Televisoras" as Morelia is owned by TV Azteca and America is owned by Televisa. They cheated us out of a final back in the 80s, we had homefield advantage therefore a tied score would have let us advance from the semi-finals, they went up in extra time, then we tied it thus giving us the win. The players dragged the ref and our players out of the locker rooms and forced the ref to make us go to penalties, we lost.

Agreed. Though Im still a n00b to this whole soccer thing, i would argue that some UEFA teams have more talent than some national teams. I was watching Liverpool* game a while back and i was at the speed of the game.

Just got off the Monarca site, a lil hard to navigate since its in spanish. But is this Super Liga a big deal?

I got the soccer bug

No disagreements there, the world cup is just special.

he failed to impress Tomas Boy, was loaned out to Atlante, as soon as he got there Atlantes coach profe cruz said he didnt want him. He is playing for Merida in la liga de ascenso now. I think morelia sold him permanently to Merida but im not sure.

thats to bad.

Rumor mill:

Barrera and Juarez are reeling in interest from European clubs.
although you played like crap and you were supposed to be playing second fiddle to chicharito had it not been for Aguirre's stubborness, I you for this:

"This has all been a beautiful experience but also difficult, too," the 33-year-old forward said. "Since making the decision to become Mexican a lot of criticism has been hanging over me and it's been hard, because I'm proud to be Mexican."

I would like to think this thread and Mexicos push at the World Cup made us all alil closer. I want to start following soccer more now, i just don't know where to start, or which team to root for.

Ideally when i start watching a new sport, it helps to have ONE team to root for, and eventually other games/teams/leagues will be more appealing.

Do i start with the MLS (Galaxy?), its hard to watch their games cause there isn't much prime/air time.

Or shall I start with my ancestral roots and follow the Mexican league with the Monarcas?

Dare i go a step further and watch those crummy "elite' European leagues? I don't really like em, but I almost wanna go for Machester United cause they are giving our boy Chicharito a shot.

Agh!!! Either way, you guys have been great and i look forward to more soccer talk with everyone on here.

f**k yeah dude! Go for Morelia! Ive been following Morelia since I was little! We are gonna win the championship this year, we have a badass team.

Nah man, go for Toluca. In two more seasons we'll have the most titles in Mexican futbol history
So whats the Super Liga, and how does it work out? Do the games have any meaning?
