If our defense doesn't wake the f up going forward, it's gonna be hard to not waver in my confidence.
Week one they looked great but outside of that, they haven't looked particularly special against any other good offenses.
They got lit up against Atlanta who were completely destroyed defensively by Tampa. We made Penix look all pro while this week he goes 8/24 with 4 interceptions. Cardinals dropped 30 on us. Denver offense has looked bad all year, same with Miami. Commanders game we were fine and then looked like Atlanta where we couldn't cover anyone.
To me it feels like we've only given effort to the assumed level of competition, and they thought they'd just walk in and shut down the Falcons without preparing last week.
I want to see the defense consistently shut down top offenses this season cause right now we've looked a bit overrated. Buckner and Bosa should help for sure, so.. We'll see, but they have to be healthy. But we've relied too much on our offense to try and make other team's one dimensional. That's usually not really sustainable.

Soft zone doesn't work, and it gets worse if the front doesn't get home. Raheem needs to mix it up with press coverage so keep the offense guessing. Lenoire has been particularly disappointing playing his guys at least 5-10 yards off every play.
But given we didn't allow Atlanta to cover much ground their last 4 drives, I don't expect any changes with our coverage techniques. Just a lot of hope that the d-line can put pressure on the QB…

I have to agree with this. Raheem did a lot to evolve our defense - Awesome. And he's gotten a lot out of Halton and Valdez, White, and Height. Now he's getting Mykel and Buckner, and hopefully Bosa. It should start coming together even more.
One major concern - when Stout went out, the coverage was dramatically worse. Not because Stout was all-world, but when they had to account for replacing him the holes immediately showed up. I keep asking - WHERE IS HOBBS? But there is no news whatsoever on him coming off IR.

Nah. Kirk won today and looked pretty good in the victory. The Raiders won't bench him. Not yet.

Those Raiders fans are pretty resourceful. They will probably lift your wallet first to gain the needed funds.
