Realistic trade target thread: [Everyone talks about trading for Garret Wilson]
There's a big difference between trading away dudes in their 30s with one year left on their contract vs trading a 26 year-old top 5-6 WR who still has a huge contract. The dead cap number to the Jets would be huge.
All of these teams think they could make the Super Bowl in a couple years. That makes your 26 year-old blue chipper who could help out your 2027 1st round QB untradable.
Khalil Mack is a possibility. A WR who's a good slot and an overall solid #3 is also a possibility. The other team also needs to be willing to trade with the Niners. I think that means no Maxx Crosby.
I wonder if Jim Harbaugh has any say over whether the Chargers will trade with the Niners

The Wilson trade is far more complicated due to financials so it could take some time. Its tough too because I think we are happy with a Evans, Deebo, Robinson 123. But can we depend on that at all?

I'm not sure that Brian Thomas is the solution either, he's not playing in Jacksonville for a reason.
Replied before you edited. While I totally agree that I want to swing for the fences for Wilson and not settle for Brian Thomas, Jajuan Jennings or another WR of that level, we have to be realistic about our guys. Deebo is an injury waiting to happen based on his playstyle. Counting on Stribling for anything this season is not something I am willing to do. And Robinson is a difference maker of a WR3/4 once out of every 5 games or so. So honestly, the second/third tier WRs that we could potentially bring in would absolutely help.
I still want Wilson though.
Jennings might be the one guy who you might want to bring in if:
- you're only looking for immediate, short-term starting WR help, assuming he'd fade to a role player as the season progressed.
I almost think they need to find a return guy

Should try to get Wan'Dale Robinson from the Titans. He caught 92 passes last season with Dart as his qb. But he hasn't done much this season due to Ward being horrible. And he's young and not a free agent after this season.

i was thinking that also. cowing is a mess. look at the impact of shaheed to seattle. marvin mims comes to mind he would have been our WR1 vs atlanta, not sure denver will part with him tho as they are winning. but we could use a guy like that

Hilarious that Pearsall has never been mentioned. That guy EVER gonna make it to the field?
I have completely written him off. He can earn a spot next year, if he is ever healthy enough to try.

Why? Why does that have to be the case? We have Evans who wont be around forever, who we already have to worry about every week because of injuries. We have Deebo who wont be around forever, who's playstyle warrants having a backup plan at all times. We have Stribling who looks great but has never caught a ball in the NFL. We have Pearsall who at this point shouldnt be counted on for anything. And then we have a bunch of low end WRs or practice squad type players.
Why cant it be short term and long term WR help?

I was also thinking about this. The Chargers did things oddly. They first hired Jim, then a couple days later they hired the current GM (Joe Hortiz). In other words, Jim may not be Hortiz's guy. I don't know about the dynamics and what's going to happen if their season goes further down the toilet. Would the GM be allowed to fire Jim and hire the next coach? If so, the GM shouldn't care if Jim doesn't like the 49ers, the GM needs to find the best deal for LAC's future.
edit: ah damn, the two seem to be good friends.

Who would be the best TE to give assistance to Kittle? One that could block and catch?

I've never been the best optimistic guy, but I've found a way and dug deep, and I've been optimistic for three, four, five years now. And that's why these [losses] each weekend hurt a little more.
Yeah, I want to be here, man," Wilson said. "I want to win games and that's the one thing we've been missing on here. I love it here. Do I love it more than I love winning? Nah, to be completely honest, but I'm hopeful.Doesn't sound like a guy that's enjoying himself. Sure he's going to say the right things PR wise and say he wants to stay to the media out in the open. But the stuff from Rapoport about "baseless trade speculation" is bonkers to me. This is a losing organization that:
1. Isn't going anywhere this year.
2. Has had and continues to have unstable play at the QB position.
3. Is going to likely have a rookie QB next year which means a high probability of another mediocre non playoff season.
4. Has traded young building blocks before in Quinnen Williams / Sauce Gardner who were 27 and 24 respectively.
It's not "baseless" to speculate him being traded. Wilson is a very talented receiver but isn't a Top 10 player at the WR position on anyone's list. If the Jets can get a 1st plus more for him why wouldn't they? They would guarantee themselves whatever QB they want in the draft and would have plenty of picks to help build around that prospect.
Garrett Wilson himself said it. He's sat around for 5 years and has done nothing but lose. He's more than likely going to do it again next year. Behind closed doors, he wants out.

Also said his desire to win is stronger than his desire to stay
