Colby isnt great but despite what people want to think this is still a top 10 OL at worst. Plenty good enough to win with.

Defense however is not good enough based on what has been shown most of year. Need pieces added.

4 sacks and 16 pressures over the last 2 games. Colby gave up FIVE pressures vs Atl...
Could have been a lot worse too. I said it yesterday Brock's mobility is masking some deficiencies on this offensive line.
The reality of a trade is that is has to work on so many levels --

1. Can that player come in and contribute right away (they are on the field right away and nearly full functional within 2-3 games). If you doubt that, then you can't give much up for them.
----WR - This is why a WR trade is so difficult, especially with the KS offense based on precise routes, timing, and adjustments.
----DL - But also why a DT or DE trade is a little easier - they can play certain assignments right away while they get up to speed on the scheme
----OL - is tricky - are they in a similar scheme? Exceptionally bright? Then maybe they can play right away. But just because they are talented, if they come in and make assignment mistakes those can be devastating to the offense.

2. What is his cost in draft capital? Or sending back a player?
3. How long will you have that player before? If it's a half season rental - then you can't offer much. (LG Nelson) Or can you get a contract extension as part of the trade - not likely for LG Qinton Nelson as he knows hitting FA next year he can reset the market with a big contract.

Given the above realistic criteria:
1.Khalil Mack - DE help, quick impact, reasonable contract, and reasonable draft capital for a rental
2. Juan Jennings - unlikely due to division rival, but fits as quick contributor, insurance against future injuries, fairly low contract, and low draft capital
3. Buckner - not sure his contract fits, $13MM - prorated for 10 games = $7.65MM - but FA in 2027
4. LG Quinto Nelson - highly unlikely - FA in 2027

Crosby is a franchise player - culture setter. Maybe he's worth building around for the next couple of years? So a 2027 1st and 2028 2nd contingent to be a 1st? Then the 9ers are already putting his fairly reasonable salary on for 2027 and 2028. Is this a sign Bosa, his injuries, and his huge contact in 2027, maybe Bosa is trade material for 2027?

This. Brock's scrambling ability reminds me of Russell Wilson. Without that we'd have a ton more sacks. When he has time, he's lighting the world on fire.

Do you guys even watch the games !!

Mack or Buckner + Nelson is what I wish. Waiting on Hobbs but we might need a slot Stout has been inconsistent and Jones is a liability

I still think a 1st + 2nd for Nelson + Buckner is way too much. But a 2nd + 3rd for Nelson + Buckner would be a home run (assuming we extend at least one of them).

A 2nd for Buckner is a bit rich he'd likely comp us at least a 4th if we let him walk after so I'd be willing to spend a 3rd. Nelson could easily cost a 1st and I would do that given what our draft position is looking like

I'll be absolutely stunned if Nelson gets traded for a 1st. A guard getting traded for that much (much less one that needs to be extended) has to be unprecedented. Joe Thuney just got traded for a 4th and while he's slightly older he's also an All-Pro—going on three First-Team All-Pros in a row, in fact.

I think Nelson gets traded for a 2nd and whoever trades for him immediately agrees to an extension.

No one is trading a first for an expiring contract unless he is extending.

I hope you guys are right I think Nelson for a late second is a no brainer even with having to extend him. I know guard is probably the least valued position outside of K/P/FB but we are talking about a guy that has made all pro or pro bowl 8 years straight and has only missed 3 games in his career

Since Buckner has accrued more than 10 seasons in the NFL, the comp pick formula caps his maximum return that a team can get at a late 5th round pick.
I would love Buckner, He's a player I trust.
I know it is unlikely, but my thing about Q Nelson is, he's a special 1of 1 player at his position. You don't often see players like him become available, it reminds me of when Trent was traded. Nelson is a generational talent. Hard to pass up for me, if he's available, but hey, I'm not a GM
Garrett Wilson is worth (2) First rounders to the 49ers.

We need to restock WR in upcoming drafts anyways.

1 dangerous WR opens up the defense (JSN v KC and Evans v SEA as recent examples).

Wilson already has a contract in place and the Jets paid most of the bonus money for it. It would be an easy star contract to absorb.

With Evans + Wilson + Stribling it removes the risk factor at WR for 2027 as well.

We can sit tight on a final Pearsall year and not exercise his 5th year option. Can trade him too if someone offers value.

We just saw Joe Thuney — arguably an even better guard than Nelson — get traded for a 4th.

Why Nelson would go for anything close to a 1st is beyond me.
