were we not in #1 contention till week 17 without Bosa, Warner, Williams Pearsall for almost the entire year?
On top of that we added pieces too so wthis question is a bit weird

Way too early to say. But they competed last year with a lot of impact injuries. Schedule is tougher this year but I can't look at Seattle and Rams and say they clearly took a huge step forward. I'd argue us bringing in Osa and just getting healthier is a bigger step forward than Rams adding their corners(which certainly was a big move)
I'd say overall Rams should be favored because they addressed their biggest needs but I also think we helped ourselves more than Seattle did(tho as defending champs it's hard to improve on that)
Long story short. Too early to say. I think we're giving ourselves a good chance but it will be another war. AFC West who we play this year is also looking pretty good. Even Raiders may look legit.

Agreed. I thought we had one helluva off-season with limited funds. Trading for Osa, bringing back Dre, signing Evans were all big moves that show this team thinks they are a couple pieces away from competing. I look forward to seeing how our top 4 picks contribute as all should carve out important roles.
Praying for good health and Brock solidifying himself as elite.

Agree. I think they think they can compete for a Superbowl this year. They beat the eventual Superbowl champions when the entire team was healthy last year.

I feel like the Rams made some big move to improve.
The 49er kind of stay the same. I think the WR are better. Most of the draft pick are situational player that will not push for starting time. I like Romello Height but he is not a full time play at DE. Maybe he can play at OLB but they really don't play with 3 LB on field maybe they will start ? OL is the same but getting older. Maybe Robert Jones helps at Guard ? The draft picks on OL are development and should not play this year. I really feel they are about the same team with better WR and a little more depth on DL. Can they win it all, only if everything falls just right.

The WR group is much better- not even including Stribling. With him and good health, I think they can do some damage. The RB room is probably about the same, but should have more space to run with the receivers creating more space on a down to down basis. The DL is where they really upgraded and they have a chance to put some serious pressure on Darnold and Stafford. We have two starting DEs in Williams and Bosa, so Height doesn't need to be a full time DE. Will it be enough? I don't know, but with good health and Kyle's coaching they have a chance.

Rams brought in both KC corners. What other big moves have they made?
49ers stayed the same?? Especially the Rams played us so beat up that simply not having everyone injured last year would move the needle more than their corner addition. That doesn't even take into account signing Mike Evans and trading for Osa.
We don't know how much impact Stribling will have but I can guarantee that Ty Simpson playing meaningful snaps for the Rams next year would be a net loss for the Rams. Stribling would not do that for the 49ers.

I don't think the secondary is good enough. Our safeties are absolutely putrid. I cant believe that position was left the same. Offensive line and secondary neglected year in and year out.

I think we improved big time, getting Evans, Dre, & Osa, then a healthy Warner, & Bosa, plus Mykel back, if Kittle can come back, plus added good depth pieces like Kirk, Hobbs, we are a top 5-10 team in the NFL, we'll be in contention for the west & #1 seed IMO, but I don't think we NEED to top seed to win it all, just need to be healthy when it matters the most, in the playoffs, right now LG & FS is the biggest concerns, I would love a vet EDGE too though, but I think we have enough to win, just depends on health.

Sure, we have a chance.
But the Seahawks will be the favorites

Rams and Seahawks won the Super Bowl with their current front office. Can you say the same about this team? This team is #3 at best. Only the hopeless Cardinals are worse than us.

The OL and secondary didn't improve at all. Two of the biggest issues especially last year. The safety room is probably the worst in football. Record wise they might keep pace with the Rams but Seattle clearly knows how to dismantle this OL.
