Stribling was one of the Niners' 16 Gold Helmet players from this year's draft. Would be very interested in knowing the other 15 Gold Helmet players.

I wouldn't look into that very much. Someone posted the previous draftees earlier and a lot of them were busts. The gold helmet means nothing.

Ambry Thomas was a gold star, I'm nervous

Hufanga and McKivitz were gold helmet guys. They had 16 this yr. It's not like the only Gold helmet designations go to guys they actually draft.

Mckivitz was a gold helmet guy and they cut his ass lol. Boy did that man respond. He's come a long way since then and is a damn good OT, especially considering what we pay for him.

I actually forgot he didn't make the 53 that year initially.

But as I mentioned before gold helmet just means the guy is made of the right stuff. McKivitz example shows a player who had the drive to get better and he clearly has been a great pick for them but as a 5th round pick he certainly wasn't going to get a guaranteed roster spot.

Stribling will and being a gold helmet guy with tools to develop, hopefully gives us a better return than McKivitz who wasn't the type of toolsy player.

Guess I'd put it this way. I feel better knowing we got a guy with great potential who is a gold helmet guy vs one who isn't.

Then again so was Trey Lance and we know how that worked out.

Yeah bro Strib will be such a breath of fresh air at the position full of drama queens. He's the opposite of the divas we just went through with Deebo and Aiyuk.

Our whole room will be different with guys like Mike Evans, Kirk, Strib added in there. All high character, hard working and drama free guys

Bling Bling now a 9er!! Full support here !!

the best comparison I now have on him is Jimmy Smith of the Jaguars ... back in the days !!

I would love to know how you got to that comp...

Lol. Smaller in height and weight and ran a 4.58

lol yeah not seeing that one…He kinda reminds me of DJ Moore. Super athletic and tough, but not gonna run crazy crisp routes.

Training camp reporting is gonna be fun. I'll bet money guys like Cohn are gonna b***h if he doesn't beat press man. It's so predictable at this pt.

Why would he suddenly not be able to beat press man coverage? He's put it on film repeatedly. I've been watching complete games from his college career for the past few days. The narrative going around that he can't beat press, or win contested catches, and only runs part of a route tree come from folks who have only watched his Ole Miss tape. JonnyDel shows some of his all 22 from college, but a lot of his games with his previous teams are on YouTube. Most everything that he is supposedly bad at is on film at schools other than Ole Miss looking passable. He might need to sharpen up his route running, but that is something that can be fixed with coaching. In fact, everything that he needs to work on is a teachable skill. This guy has the highest ceiling of any wr in this class.
Looks like the team issued him #15, JJ's old number. I was hoping to get a number in the 80s again (80, 82, 84, 87 are open), but I can live with it.

JJ hasn't even signed with a team yet and they already giving him his number lol...

Far as I am concerned, neither 80 nor 87 are open.

82 as well. I'd allow 84, but only if Mike Schumann gives the OK.

I said the same thing last week

Well then it's a good thing that he also played at Washington State and Oklahoma State; and produced at both schools. He ran every single route that the 49ers will be asking him too. I'm not saying he's a "great" route runner; but he can run the routes required and I know that cause he literally already has. People acting like his route tree is DK Metcalf has no clue WTF they talking about and likely only watched his Ole Miss tape.

I've got the '84 Divisional Round game on VHS where Frank pins LT. Love it.
