Raheem Morris, Defensive Coordinator, SF 49ers

Buckner made sense before Osa. He's not gonna help the issues against the run.

then have White and West rotate and moved around?

Buck would have to be willing to do something he hasn't done in his career.

Agree on Raheem's blitzing and coverage disguises. Saleh and Morris are great DC's. I just like Raheem's defenses more than Saleh's defense because they remind me of the old dynasty defenses under Seifert. Seifert ran a 3-4 (same as Mike MacDonald) and developed the zone blitz. Morris is 4-3 but uses muti-front defenses.

Since the Seifert days, the 49ers have gone to a more linebacker-centric (or more front 7 centric) under Vic Fangio, Saleh and Demeco defense. With Raheem we can go back to the old (and in my opinion) a more solid pass defenses along the lines of the old Superbowl winning Seifert defenses.

SALEH's soft.. I like Heem .. he seems to have a plan with different type of offense he's about to face !

He's basically on a one-year $23M contract for whomever trades for him (well… now it's probably more like $21.6M and would drop every game I would think).

So come November trade deadline it would basically be a $12.2M half-season rental.

That's actually pretty doable, if come November 2nd after Week 8 it makes sense for both teams. I was thinking the same thing about Maxx Crosby too since we play the Raiders right before the trade deadline.

Not sure if either player would help with run defense though.

It's going to be interesting what Morris can do when he gets players back from IR. Dre coming back makes a big difference paired up with Fred their speed and violence set the tone. The D line made Stafford uncomfortable and caused inaccuracy and Int's. Our DB's held up pretty good except for the Nacua missed tackle. Barring injuries this could become a very good defense. Time will tell but at least Morris made adjustments to stop the Lambs run game. Go Niners

Raheem's off to a good start.

I really like that his D seems more aggressive than Salah's.

The DBs definitely seemed tbe playing tighter coverage instead of playing back and trying to tackle after the catch. We may see more PI calls as a result but if it means fewer easy receptions and an increased number of INTs than its worth it.

Well he's harder than Balut, but point being - the Saleh defense relys on simplicity and raw talent. It works when you have Demeco's kind of defensive talent - but when you don't (becuase you can't draft a Bosa or Myles Garrett) you start losing the defensive war. Especially in the playoffs.

Why cant you draft a Bosa or Miles Garrett? Well when you draft almost dead last every year becuase you make the playoffs every year - you won't ever get a chance to draft those generational players.

Thats why I like Raheem's defense - it can work with day two and day three talent. Even better if they find a generational talent like a Charles Haley in the 4rth round (hopefully thats Jaden Dugger ).

The defensive front seven has always been decent to good since the beginning of the ShanaLynch era, its always been the defensive backfield thats been suspect. I'm hoping Raheem can change that to a more dominat pass defense (meaning Great DLine and Great DB's) and less of a focus on the LB's.

Don't get me wrong, I still want good LB's, but instead of two all-pro DLinemen, I'd rather have 1 all pro DLineman and 1 all-pro DB.
