these last two games are going to be a gauntlet; going to be hard to win out

Because he's a homer. Caleb will be a more difficult matchup for us because he is mobile. Everyone time we pressured Rivers last night, he caved. He doesn't have the legs nor the arm power to throw if he's not set. Caleb has a better arm (albeit a lower football IQ than Rivers) and he can run. Our kryptonite has always been mobile QBs.

our best bet….talk a big lead, force Chicago to abandon their game plan, then hope Caleb starts throwing prayers so we can get turnovers. If we let Chicago dictate the game, I can see them play us on offense like Houston did and just pick th D apart.

WTF do you think Shanny just woke up from the dark ages!? Of course that's the game plan... erryone is going to have to abandon the run game at some point in order to keep up with this offense, they're in full throttle playoff mode

Niners might not have to punt (3rd game in a row) until seaCucks come for their ass whoopin too

Chi just had a hard fought battle with Pack and have another division rival (Lions put up 52 last time) after they play us... they are sandwiched in. Basically, they are just a piece of meat that Niners will barbeque so, this will be the tailgate game for us until Cucks come to town
Rivers was a wilely vet. Took all the defensive alignments and rotations, dissect and diced us apart. I don't see Caleb Williams capable of doing that. But Williams present a different challenge. Mainly better arm and the ability to extend plays and gash the defense with his running.

I'm scared of the scramble and launch the ball deep because of our safeties.

Caleb's biggest issues are accuracy and he is so risk averse that he passed up potential big plays. He holds the ball too long and just will not put the ball at risk.

It is very difficult to have consistent success passing in the NFL with this mindset. The bears have legitimately won 3-5 games this year with just outrageous things breaking in their favor. That's not sour grapes, it just is what it is (we've had a couple games like that!)

Anyhow, we'll see Sunday. Tough on a short week vs opponent with extra day. But at least we're at home!

Its wild but true. No fooling Rivers. He knows where to go, what adjustments to make, etc. Might be an easier game for the defense.
I can understand how some peeps might wet the pants just thinking about how mobile Caleb is, I get it I get it... Niners haven't faced a mobile QB like him so far this year. He's definitely a weapon. But still, NO1CURR and nobody scurred

This isn't grampy's 49ers defense anymore. A lot of youth and a lot of speed compared to previous years... Niners already faced some mobile QBs and put them in check

Jaxson Dart rushed for 56 yards on them, but that's it Please calm down and don't have an anxiety attack days before kickoff

They made a 44-year-old QB who hadn't played in five years look like a legit NFL starter. What did they have, like one sack all night and a few pressures. I'm mean it's just embarrassing how bad their pass rush is these days. Bil Walsh once said you can scheme offense, but you need to have good players on defense and right now, too many of our good players aren't on the field. If Rivers could look like a Pro Bowl player, what the heck is Stafford going to do to us if we meet up again.

I know I'm late coming to this - Rivers may be 44 but he was always very good at reading defense and he showed last night that he hasn't forgotten how to read things. Yes, he doesn't throw with the velocity he once had but he was able to take advantage of what he saw to roll up yards.

The defense needs to improve but Caleb Williams will not adjust to the things Saleh will throw at him like Rivers did. Williams/Johnson will get some things right that may hurt but not with the frequency Rivers did. Arrow ^^^^^

EDIT: Didn't see Lifelong's comment until after I posted.

Been a long busy day in the marketplace.

Basically, in a nutshell, for this particular game, it comes down to this

BP > Williams
Shanny > Johnson
Our D > Their D

Also might not have Rome Odunze on offense.

Bears coach has already ruled him out and said he may come back later in season
From what I have been reading, the Bears are focusing more on their matchup at home against the Lions in 2 weeks. They just want to come out of Santa Clara healthy.

Right now more people taking 49ers minus 3.
Can't wait for the game!! Looks like the rain will be done by Saturday as well.

yeah, Playing Rivers and Playing a young caleb williams are two drastically different tasks. With Rivers, you're not fooling him at all. he's seen it all. knows exactly where to go and what the defense is doing.

Caleb will be a different challenge - obviously his mobility and deep ball are at the core of that. He won't be able to dissect defenses the same way as rivers, he won't be calling audibles and adjustments nearly the same as Rivers was. Rivers was essentially the play caller last night - he got to the line early and called audibles based on our defensive looks and matchups. Caleb will just run the play that's called.

I have a ton of respect for the bears HC, and what theyve accomplished this year, but we should handle the bears. Offense should be rolling and our defense should have some turnover opportunities. Obviously this is the NFL and can lose to any team any time, but this is a game that a championship contender should win, IMO.

lol i hope these idiots are "looking ahead", that speaks to their inexperience of being a winning team. if they don't take this game as serious as possible, they're going to get annihilated. which is absolutely my preference. lol
