I love the 49ers but I absolutely agree. IMO this would be one of the worst defenses in history for any team to win a SB.

Unless he's still not healthy they should have at least kicked the tires on Wilkins. Maybe they did. If they weren't going to fortify the DL more than they did I thought they should have loaded up on the back end and signed Asante Samuel Jr. Hopefully they take a look at Judon. He might have one last good stretch of football in him as a situational pass rusher??? It's not like Judon would be taking reps away from anyone valuable or someone they are trying to develop.

I hope Sammy O and YGM don't just get back but stay back. They will help. West needs to step up his game, specifically his run defense. With Martin's explosiveness why not experiment with him on the edge from time to time??? Martin could possibly add something to the nonexistent pass rush.

2011 New York Giants, considered by some the worst ever (ranked 25th in points allowed/defense), alongside the 2006 Colts (23rd), 2009 Saints (20th), and 2007 Giants (17th)

Giants were just one of those teams that got hot at the right time. Niners could do that.

They did fortify the DL. They just all got hurt.

If memory serves me, didn't Rodgers win his only Super Bowl with Green Bay when they were really banged up? I remember thinking "no way they win this year" back in the day, although it may be my Alzheimers?

I thought they were kind of banged up in the second half of the regular season but mostly healthy for the playoffs? I could be wrong though.

GB missing almost half their starters on D, players also getting injured during the game. High scoring SB, Rodgers was on another level

If Seattle wins, LA falls behind SF as we hold tiebreaker in division (4-1 to 3-2). We can win out and take 1 seed (includes beating Seattle in the finale).

If LA wins, we move up to 5th seed because we own tiebreaker with Seattle. Both teams will be 10-4 but we have division lead 4-1 to 3-2. However, assuming both Seattle and SF win their next game(s) the 5th seed would belong to the winner of that season finale.

Given the risk on both fronts include having to beat Seattle in that finale (assuming they win next week), probably better to pray for Seattle to win today. It gives us a legitimate shot at the one seed. Of course it also gives Seattle the same shot, as the winner of that game gets the bye and the loser would likely drop to 6 or 7 seed.

Given the defensive limitations, there is no favorable matchup for SF in the playoffs, outside of the Panthers and they made Purdy look stupid even though we won.

This. Of course we could get some turnovers and win a game. But in realityboir run defense won't cut it at all in the pkayoffs.

Wasn't that Purdy's first game back after his injury? He's been playing better every game, and Kyle is the best in the league when it comes to post season game planning. We'll know a lot more about how we stack up against Seattle week 18, but neither Tampa or Carolina scare me. I think Philly would be a W as well.
Not looking good for Seattle
