Suspended
Demarcus Robinson
I have an astrisk next to Taylor and Beal. We assume at this time that Aiyuk will begin the season on pup and Robinson will be suspended from the WR core. I think the niners will want to carry an extra vet in the room with so many young receivers until Aiyuk/Robinson come back in the fold. I'm just not sure that receiver is on the roster yet so I have Taylor penciled in for now.
Same thing for Beal. I project a 5th DE to be kept but I'm not sure he's on the roster yet. Could be someone added after 53 man roster cuts. We will see. For now I have Beal penciled in.
I'm sure this will change as the summer progresses and injures occur, more information comes out etc..
This is my initial projection though.
Remember that the team can elevate 2 players each week from the PS, max of 3 games a year, I think it's better, IMO anyway, to keep Bergen or Neyor on the 53, so they don't get claimed, while having guys like Taylor & Hodgins or Gage on PS since they don't go through waivers, but again that's just me.
No issues IMO here, wouldn't mind a veteran on the EDGE over Beal, but I'm rooting for Beal to finally show something more.
I think Surratt makes it, he played all 17 games last year, some people have even said he might get snaps at LB.
I hope someone can step it up on IDL, Elliott NEEDS to prove something to justify a roster spot IMO.
I think with the uncertainty at Safety they keep Grant with the other 4, but again just my opinion.
I'd keep the veteran Hennessy over Zakelj, who I'm sick of seeing making the 53 every year when he's yet to do anything significant in his first 3yrs.
No matter what happens, we're gonna release or waive some good players, hoping those who go through waivers clear to go on the PS.
I'm sure my list will change once camps are over and we get some better information, injuries come out and also once games start and we can see the players.
I'm aware of the call up parameters for practice squad.
I agree on Elliot. There was nothing overly impressive about him last year and I wasn't a fan of the signing when it happened. However I have him in there right now because he offers by far the most starting experience of a relatively young and unproven DT group.
Zakelj is one of those guys that seems to stick under this coaching staff. Whether he is overly impressive to us fans or not, he's been around for awhile and has even done some training at center. Hes a player they seem to like.
I'm having a hard time seeing Grant making this team right now. He was bad as a starter two years ago and was absolutely atrocious last year. I think you can get about the same level of play from a practice squad player that you can get from what he's shown in recent play.
Surratt certainly has a shot. Saleh is very familiar with him. Nobody was seemingly knocking on his door to sign him though. There's a reason he was still sitting there in late May. I see him as more of a practice squad candidate right now imo. We will see.
