DT CJ West broke his thumb and will have surgery tomorrow. Kyle Shanahan said West might be able to play with a cast.

You can't even possibly be serious. Is this April fools? Are they being real? A broken thumb that requires surgery.
Maybe the 49ers should just open a hospital ward instead. This is not a serious team like this. You can't be this injured every year and contend. It's absolutely impossible.

Are you surprised a broken bone requires surgery?

Broke many bones when I was a kid, never required surgery

Yes! Back in my day a bit of water spray and duct tape could get anything through the season. From broken thumb to broken collarbone, even a detached retina or severed limb.
Players these days are just too soft to grit it out.

No I'm surprised we have more injured players who are out. Or maybe not surprised. It's simply what our team does. GET INJURED. Surgery for this issue or not is completely irrelevant.

Yup, every kid who breaks a bone should be rushed into surgery.
Absolutely comparable to a grown adult playing in the NFL.

Hopefully he can wear a club and immobilize it and play. Dude needs reps. Willis played with a club hand and still led the league in tackles.

with the cast maybe he can get away with poking linemen in the eye. Captain Insano shows no mercy

Real (million dollar) athletes require surgery, regular folks don't need surgery for these things. They have to repair and prepare that thumb for the NFL, not typing on a keyboard.

He had a few decent pass rush reps late in the game against the Rams on his limited number of snaps.
