The vast majority of the time the agents have been in the players ear non-stop and the team is limited in the messaging they can give to the kids. The VAST VAST majority of the time in pro-sports contract issues are entirely created by agents. The agencies actually work together to manipulate teams and the league and the media to their personal gain, it's just allowed because it generally (but not always) benefits the players too.

Every once in a while a player steps up and tells their agent what they want the agent to do, but it's rare.

Why would you not like a guy who is milking the most money to secure his family's future from billionaires?

He's sacrificing his body and mind so the Yorks can go buy some other sports team and a second yacht.

If anything you should be mad at the team who has all the bargaining power for sitting on their wallets and playing hardball.

So you want our O line to risk injuring our 2nd round pick? Nice. Check out the other 2nd rounders. After #33 and 34, where the Texans conceded a fully guaranteed contract, which then forced Cleveland to do the same, all the other players have been held back by their agents who are trying for the same thing.

This is not about Collins. The amount of his contract is set, and unless he's a disaster he will get every penny. This isn't him making this happen it's the agents.

It is in our interest as fans for no players to get any guaranteed money with the current hard cap.

This isn't just about the player getting more money. The dirty little secret is the fact agents get a percentage of what the player gets. Hence, the agent is working for himself as much as for the player.

That having been said, the agent is entitled to make as much as he can as well. When his players do well, so does he. When they bust, he busts financially also.

Survival of the fittest, in sports.

In a way, that is true. However, in a larger picture, this is the agent putting himself in a position to say, "Look what I just did. I can do something others cannot. Sign with me."
