I didn't claim Mykel is going to be a HOF player. I simply pointed out his youth, his athletic profile and mentioned several players with similar skill sets who didn't come out playing like All Pros.

Maybe calm down and stop being so concerned about 11th overall pick. Why would I say he lived up to that pick when the kid tore his ACL in week 9 as a rookie? Thankfully we didn't draft him just for his rookie season.

Breathe.

Also people develop differently imo. Mykell being a stud run defender and being a mid passrusher is fine for me for an 11th pick, but im hoping his pass rush develops to a consistent 8-10 sack a year guy. If we get that then this would be a great pick.

I swear some people only look at stats and don't watch games/film to evaluate players. The impact he had in his limited snaps were apparent. That Keion White sack doesn't happen without Mykel.

Just the ones rooting for him to fail because 9ers didnt pick their guy.
I think its fine to wish Niners went the "pass rusher first" route.

I may not necessarily agree with it, but I think thats something someone should be allowed to do.

It looks like Keon White might be that 10 sack guy. He has 3 in 5 games. On pace for 10 sacks

So who should've been that pass rusher first pick?

Backup TEs are more important.

Speaking for myself but my pick that draft was Jalon Walker. On record in my shadow draft. He would've led our team in sacks with 5.5 and he also got injured. Tore his ACL in training camp and will miss this season

He got limited time and played great. Helped cause a stack played well against the run no coincidence that our DL looked so much better

Also this is amazing

Pretty impressive tbh.

He'll only get better as the season progresses, too

yup it will show up in stat room soon that type of penetration is what we need opposite Bosa. I thought he had a really good game last week better than i thought i thought they would be more rust not playing in a year. I said a few pages abck i hope he is on a snap count and it looks like he was. i think he will slowly ramp up.

Im really liking our DL and its getting healthier

We have no idea what he would've done here but Jalon was a vastly different player. 5.5 sacks on the Falcons who had way more pass rush than us last season doesn't mean he's putting up 5.5 sacks here especially after Bosa gets injured. Walker had 1 sack through the first 7 weeks of the season.

Either way both guys have yet to prove they're worth top 15 selection at this point but have plenty of time to do that. We'll see who is the better player a few years from now. Hopefully Mykel proves to be that.

Yeah; vastly different player in that Jalon is actually an edge rusher vs an edge setter lol. Just answering the question that you asked. And you're right; 5.5 with the Falcons doesn't mean 5.5 with the 49ers, he could've put up more just as much as you are trying to insinuate that he puts up less; we both don't know. Walker had 1 sack through the first 7 weeks and Williams had 1 through 9 weeks; not sure what your point is there?

In any case you are right; both have yet to prove worthy of top 15 selections. I also obviously hope that Mykel turns out the better player; but I do think Jalon already is and will be the better pass rusher, to the original point/question.

Williams was asked to play tackle several snaps. He wasn't strictly an edge rusher. I'm sure that slowed hs develoment a little. Lynch commented on that last year after Williams was injured. He said that he had done a good job for a rookie being asked to learn different postions on the D line.

Okay. Not sure what the point of this is? I answered genus question of "who should've been that pass rusher first pick" with who I thought was the better "pass rusher", key word, and who I would've picked. They both played for Georgia and Walker was the much better pass rusher in college and so far in the NFL.

Mykel led the league in taking on double teams before Bosa got injured, so it seems the team was scheming him to free up Bosa. He also led our team in pressures before getting injured. This whole judging a player purely by sacks is a fool's errand. Mykel showed enough promise before getting injured to buy himself some patience from our fans, but with fans like these...

Are you referring to me with this? Like me how? A fan that is having a discussion with another fan on a forum meant for discussion by answering a question asked? This makes me inpatient with Mykel and less of a fan; or what are you implying? I swear man some people are Charmin soft and sensitive

FWIW; I like Mykel and think he has a bright future, I've said as much numerous times in this thread. Just because I think Jalon is and was the better pass rusher and would've taken him instead, doesn't mean I don't like Mykel and doesn't have to mean that either.

Bro, I was talking to you. "These", ostensibly would refer to people other than a person with whom you are talking to. But if that kind impatience describes you, then sure, I guess. If it doesn't, then no. I'm just saying in general our fanbase is full of terribly impatient people.
