So Thank God we have Mac for one more season..

I am very happy that we have Mac for at least one more season and also that Kurtis Rourke looks quite promising, apparently. And I wish that the team put more effort into the line. Doesn't alter the fact that I consider Purdy significantly better than Mac.

The OL was objectively not as bad as ya'll constantly complain about last yr. Brock was near or at the top of TT. Some of those hits were on the QB, play breakdown and a receiving group that simply couldn't get open….not just OL play.

we have two good starting OTs. We have a good young RG (when not playing through a PCL) and they brought in 3 LGs to compete. No one is gonna call Brendel anything more than average, but he's far from the worst starting center in the league. Ideally they would sign a FA next off season.

As far as Mac goes, he just fits the scheme and vibe of this team. The upside will always be limited with him (very Jimmy Gish) and that's why I never wanted to spend a 1st rd pick on the guy. I'm all for him being the backup here and see where it goes from there.

Brock is clearly better than Mac. The ability to make plays when everything breaks down is a big deal.

we're in a good place at QB and I think we should all be pumped about that

A running back is a QB's best friend. CMC took the hits that Brock would have had last year. 49ers drafted Kealon to be another hit absorber for Brock. **and** added some OLine picks as well. I think they did the best they could do in protecting Brock this year.

I still wonder how the team would have done in the playoffs if you had Mac *and* all the first round draft picks that were traded away.

I don't think those editions will be enough...the whole oline group is going to have to step up.

as far as the underline part, at the time of the trade I said it was a horrible thing to do....giving up so much capital for a rookie QB that you expected to available with the 3rd pick..when you knew the first two teams were going to get the first two *best* QBs.

this was the order pre-trades I believe...

Did Kyle and company REALLY believe Mac Jones wasn't going to last until the 12th pick? The Bears passed up on Jones... the Dolphins weren't going to take a QB. Did Kyle think someone else was going to trade up? if so FOR WHO???? Who was worth trading up for in that draft? Maybe Lawrence, but he was going #1.

S**t didn't make sense..

now WHY the 9ers took Trey over Jones, I do understand.... at the time the 9ers would have been BLASTED for taking Mac Jones after trading all those picks..and taking him that high. With Trey, the impression was he would have been the #1 overall QB taking the very next year anyway... and the upside of Trey in comparison to Jones... being molded at a young age by "QB Guru" Kyle... blah blah blah..

Kyle and John were not prepared going into that offseason.... s**t was ridiculous..

There's a good chance we wouldn't have Brock if Mac was picked (if ShanaLynch didn't trade up). Agree on ShanaLynch not picking Mac after the trade - simply becuase the three considered *best QB's* back then were Trevor, Zach, and Trey. They didn't need to trade up in order to get Mac in my opinion.

You surround Mac with what Brock had in 2022 and 2023 (keep in mind) Brock had no first round picks in both years, I think Mac easily makes the playoff both years. It's a harder question to answer if you ask the same question about the Superbowl.

All in all, between Mac and Brock, I think Brock fits much better than Mac in Kyles offense and also is much more mobile and accurate versus Mac. Same thing I'd say with Sam Darnold vs Brock. Just my opinion but I think there are more Superbowl's inside Purdy vs either Mac or Sam.

I'm super happy that Mac will stay this season. He's a really good QB. Brock Purdy is clearly better IMHO. Purdy is a really good scrambler and Mac is not really mobile. That makes a huge difference. But having Mac as back up is so important for the Niners. The back up QB is probably one of the most importants players today on a NFL roster. If your QB1 is injured, you're f**ked unless you have a good back up and the Niners have an excellent one with Mac.

You guys really like all that running around even if the pocket is still there because he can't see above the line.

Bailing from clean pockets isn't a real issue with Brock. He's more inclined to hold the ball too long.

Mobility is an undeniable positive, regardless.

Brock and Mahomes are pretty similar in height, at least to me when they were standing side by side in the Superbowl podium before the game. (Agree that Patrick is taller, but not by much).
