He also had 3 head coaches and multiple OCs under the Baalke regime. It's an underrated deterrent for player development - he now gets some stability wi the 49ers.

I don't love the value of the contract, but it finally gives us stability after we have had patch work signings for our blocking TE role. And given Juice's departure, maybe Farrell will player a bigger role than expected.

I love Luke. Luke's a great blocking tight end. … He's one of the better blocking tight ends I've seen in a long time. He does a great job. He makes a difference in the run game, a difference in pass protection. Most tight ends are good. We have good blocking tight ends, we always have had good blocking tight ends. This guy makes a difference. He really does affect the running game in a good way. He's good to have around.

Why? That's never been his game. This should allow for kittle to be more involved in the passing game
