This is a good coping mechanism.
Performance enhancing drugs.
Strange that chiefs don't suffer from this despite making deeper runs every year for longer than the niners.

But sure, we can use whatever excuse I guess

I concur

This is also true, EXCEPT the travel miles and negative rest advantage

If you think about it chiefs are smack dab in the middle of the country so their travel times are much more consistent which is easier on the body.

The Chiefs probably have less travel days per year then the 49ers (that means more recovery days) and I wonder to what degree it affects things (if at all).

maybe someone that is good with AI, could get it to graph the NFL's travel requirements for teams and correlate it to injuries.

I would suspect, it plays a role....and I will always tag this season, as the hell schedule...but I really have no idea.

It would be interesting for someone to put the amount of Tavel, facing teams coming off bye weeks, extended seasons..etc into a historical a historical database to see if there is any correlation to w/l or injuries...hell even point spreads....

it is possible its minimal...I don't know.

Games played is just one factor. Travel and lack of rest is another important factor, in fact it might be the most important one since good sleep and rest are integral to recovery. This season the 49ers ranked 5th in total miles while the Chiefs ranked 19th.

There were multiple prompts. Essentially:

1. What teams played the most games over the past three seasons?
2. Correlate this with the teams with the most injuries.
3. How does the total miles traveled by these teams correlate?
The 49ers rose to the top because they had a lot of injuries, multiple deep playoff runs and a negative rest advantage compared to other teams.

It can't be that good because it doesn't make me feel better. I don't even know if there is a solution to the problem other than maybe an early end of the season being the best thing for our team. The guys get a much needed rest and have more time to recover.

See now, here's the thing. Injuries have undeniably been a real problem recently and this season in particular. And consequently fans are looking for an explanation. A comparison with the Chiefs doesn't do it, you only need to look at a map and compare the total miles each year. But where we are looking for an explanation, you are fobbing it off as an excuse. Shows a very different attitude towards the team.
