Raiders will wildly overpay Darnold out of desperation. Its their MO.

sam is in the mvp convo this season.
so why is sam taking 25m and brock 60m? that's a silly premise.
we will see how their deals come in this summer. i'll go on the books now that brock is not > 2x sam.
also we already punted on sam when we told him goodbye and picked brock over him. so the die is cast so to speak. it would be beyond weird to punt brock for sam. why not just bring jimmy back while we are at it? go for maximum awkward. trey lance also, he's a FA. these are fantasyland scenarios.

if you want to do this accurately would you say do you want Brock at $45m or do you want Daniel Jones at 1 year $10m. but even in that, let's entertain jones for a second, well if he works for 1 year you gotta pay him. so you have to pay eventually no matter what. that's why i don't worry about this contract.

Sam Darnold won't command 60 million like Purdy might (according to some analysts). He's going to be a free agent, and he didn't leave the team on bad terms. From what I remember, the 49ers extended him an offer, he just took a better one from Minnesota. So there's no rule that he doesn't want to come back here.
Second Krueger and Bruce think he's at the 25-30m level. Let's go a step higher and say he asks for 30-35m. Would you rather him Sam Darnold plus maybe an added proven veteran or two with the saved money, or would you rather give it all to Brock and expect him to do the same with less ?
Id argue you could do more with Sam Darnold and added talent instead of Brock with the same offense (minus Deebo, Juice and Aiyuk back for the second half of the season)…

They knew the attributes Darnold had compared to Brock and still kept Brock. It's almost like they just turned a blind eye to what Sam could do.

straight up fiction. he's in the MVP running with a cannon and he can move. why would purdy coming off a worse season and not hitting FA command more? FA drives your value up not down. more suitors. brock has 1 suitor. he's under contract. the premise is absurd. i gave a cheap option, that's what darnold was when he signed with minny. he was 1 year 10 mil. we are just running back kyle and brock. so it's all fantasy convo.
my idea is sign brock, and add danny dimes as a QB2 or some other talented guy who may need a new situation. darnold is long gone. if we wanted to pick darnold over brock we should have done that when sam was here. kyle didn't do that.

I just will never understand this opinion. It's a complete re-writing of history based on Darnold's successful season this year. Darnold was not in a competition with Purdy. He was a high level backup signed as insurance in case Brock wasn't healthy. He was signed because Lance was useless. Nobody in their right mind would have started Darnold over a healthy Brock in either 2023 or the start of 2024, especially at 10-15x the price, lol.

wouldn't be the first time. we actually went into a year with a fully inverted depth chart of Lance, JG, Brock.

He's getting way more than Geno Smith, especially on the open market. I'd expect him to get a minimum of $35 mil per, and possibly more with the cap going up.

Raiders will pay him 40 easy. Giants might as well.

35m sounds about right. Almost half of what Brock would demand. Plus you have the leftover money to sign some FAs or extend guys like Greenlaw maybe Ward. I wouldn't mind that route instead of banking it all on Brock becoming an all time great at some point…

Anyone claiming that a 27 year old QB coming off a Pro Bowl season is only going to get $25 million in free agency has seriously lost the plot.
He'll get paid big by someone and I wish him well.
