Nick Nolte--before s**t went real life sideways for him--in Blue Chips (1994). Blue Chips remains one of the best, behind's the scenes, sports movies I have seen when it comes to the issue of money in the game. For my money, Nolte's closing monologue where he tears down the facade that sports were (keep in mind, this was before NIL) at the time was an epic performance that had it all rage, regret, sorrow, love, anguish, and self-disgust. This rant is dedicated to that performance.

I hate we live in a time where I have to say, "Fropwns, life long niner fan; married a niner loving wife, made my daughter a niner fan. Etc,etc."

f**k that noise. You KNOW I am down. I will be there gutted in the end if we lose, again. So when I say it, I want you to know it hurts me to say it. And while I realize some folks on the Niners are putting out effort, I have to say that...

This team looks like total dog s**t. Outside of Purdy, Mason, Fred, and Jennings, who are the most consistent right now, we look terrible. The long outlook is that we will get main line folks back in the weeks to come. The short term is that it might not matter if we remain below .500 by the time we face the Chiefs, let alone the Cowboys. The 49ers are wounded, but are also committing self-inflicted wounds. Thus, I feel like it is time for us to come to Walsh, as it were, and admit some uncomfortable f**king realities:

You can't win, if you can't, as a team, catch. You can't win, if you can't block consistently on the offensive line. You can't win, if you can't complete the clutch kick. You can't win if the defensive scheme is bad, or, perhaps worse, if the coach is perhaps in over his head. Let's add to that, you can't win, if the players are not executing on the defensive side of the ball. You can't win, when Brock is giving you everything, but the team is not responding enough. You can't win, if you do not have a consistent pass rush. You can't win, if you can't stay healthy. You can't win, if you don't, as the head coach, adjust to the reality of your team as it is from week to week--i.e., are you playing the best you can at wide receiver? (More on this in a second). You can't win, if you are relying on a wide receiver who got paid, but still, three games in, is not picking up his performance. You can't win, if another wide receiver, in a pivotal moment can't complete the primary job of his occupation: catching. You can't win, if the offense is scoring roughly 24.3 ppg, but the defense, once the hallmark of this fine organization, is allowing damn near the same amount (23.0 ppg). Generally speaking, you can't win when you flub so f**king bad on special teams. You can't win, if you are relying on what you have done in the past to justify why everything is okay; further, you can't win, if you feel that you can just turn it on when you f**king feel like it.

Life is hard, football is hard. You have to show up and put in effort. In this divided election cycle, that is a message that should resonate with errrrybody. But, please, no politics, it is just an observation.

I have two more observations for you.

You can't win, if the organization does not do something now, not later, to fix the situation. Something has to happen to reign this s**t in.

And lastly, you can't win, if you have been at the height of excellence for the past five years only to continue to fall short and you have not learned something from it. Not just as a coach, but as players. There has been a lot of talk about how we have the best team for a while. Yet, we have not finished the job.

Prove me wrong. Please. I am begging you. For once, prove me f**king wrong. But, I have seen this before. It is damn hard to stay consistently good. And right now, we are not good, let alone super.

I am Fropwns.

Two words: Kyle Shanahan.

We've seen this story before with Andy Reid. Took him 2 decades to win a SB even though for the majority of those years he had above avg QBs and above avg rosters. Some guys just can't out of their own way. The only thing that changes is if you get one of those one in a lifetime players than will actually break off the coach's mold and take matters into their own hands. Mahomes is that person. He takes Reid's offensive schemes to another level because he improvises, plays outside the box that Reid has set for him. You know who else did that ? Brett Favre with Mike Holmgren, another one of those Walsh disciples that just couldn't get out of his own way.

Kyle will never win a Super Bowl with this team because he's limited as a coach. He can call a great offensive game but he's horrible at every other facet of his coaching job. He doesn't know how to put the right players in at the right time. He sucks at clock management. He doesn't hold his coaches responsible, doesn't even know how to pick them honestly.

Look up the definition of insanity, and then you'll know that the end result here is getting Kyle out of here…

This was always feeling like a numb, hangover season after falling down the mountain last year...again.

The Jets game may have been fool's gold...I was expecting that to be a tight win or loss and fully expected them to lose to the Vikes based on history, short week, and fact that Minny has talent. The Rams game was pivotal, a gimme win, and there is zero excuse why they didn't.

We've seen them have these same issues and crawl out before. We've seen them have these same issues and be buried alive before they even have a chance.

I guess we'll find out. But the fact that this keeps happening, while other great teams like KC take care of business like the 49ers should be...is incredibly frustrating.

2-2 is fine. 1-3 is life support. They botched that and made this New England game an absolute imperative...which it also is for New England at 1-2.
we had some lapses. we lost. ease your fingers off of the panic button... lol.

We only need to make the playoffs.

And then what ? Any given Sunday ?
The talk about having the best roster was always just BS talk without any actual substance.

In spite of the talent the roster has, a lot of holes exist due to draft and FA failures, especially devoid of closers regardless of position.
The downfall was coming eventually, would've been nice if they actually had something to show for it.

Yep, the only people on the team who seem to GAF rn. Sad and frustrating to see all of that talent wasted on total crap..just crap. They deserve better but unfortunately, I just don't see Kyle making the necessary adjustments. And I don't see these players stepping up. Like get Bell off the team already. Why did they keep him? Get a good DC..if he can't do it, find another. Get a good RT and have a solid OL for crying out loud. Just make the changes. ST..make the changes. We need better. Our QB deserves better than this s**t-show.

You can't win when your budding superstar QB is not completing passes at a higher efficency rate than he normally is. Also, you can't win when that same QB is having balls tipped or getting hit while throwing them, which lead to costly interceptions. You can't win when your kicker goes down and your offense sputters all the time in the red zone. You can't win when your budding superstar running back, who wants to be like Lynch, also fumbles like Beast mode used to do on occasion. You can't win when all-world Fred Warner is beat to piss. You can't win when Hufanga goes down, again. You can't win when you can't hold a lead. You can't win expecting things to be all right, when clearly, they ain't right.
