Give it a few hours....

Right he will be back on the injury report soon.
This guy, I swear, has never been healthy more than one week at a time. I don't know how he made it through the year two years ago as a punt returner. I'm so glad we signed that excellent punt returner on our practice squad. At this point, elevate him instead of cowing and eventually give him that roster spot because this is getting ridiculous not having a decent punt returner.

Another player with flashes of promise but can't stay healthy. Maybe this is finally his year.
Niners picked up a returner today and added him to the ps. I wonder if that's incase Cowing can't go week 1.

That's exactly what that is for. he will be elevated for multiple weeks imo then take over for Cowing if he is called up more than what......3 or 4 times during the season??? So annoying but this could be a net gain bc the PS wr/returner is a top 5-10 return man and Cowing is not even close to that
They can only elevate two for first game, and Im pretty sure the long snapper will be one of them.
The second guy whos elevated I thought would be Okoronkwo. As much as they need a punt returner, I trust Watkins to just fair catch punts. The edge situation is VERY murky with both Bosa and Height not practicing.

You're right, it will be the LS and a DE

Put Jack Jones back there, he is our 2nd best PR imo

Yeah Id like to see Jones there, but only if he doesnt start (and hence hopefully Green can go)

What credentials are you guys coming up with that makes Jack Jones a punt returner?

He's one of the guys who is given reps at punt returner by the team...so hes looked as an option by the team. For me its more of a process by elimination. I havent liked Cowing or Watkins punt returns much (yes I know Cowing had a TD in preseason), and I think Deebo looks downright bad at it. So Id give it to someone who might potentially have some juice.
This season is his last chance for sure.
We'll find out if he has what it takes this season.

Not overly optimistic he'll last without getting injured again.

IMO, if he gets injured -

I like Watkins better as a WR but if cowing because a good returner then I'm happy

Put him on defense and send him at the QB every time.

he should beat the tackles every time
