Lynch just converted three 1st's and a 2nd into a 4th and you all can't see the genius behind that. SMH.

NFL playing checkers, Lynch is a chess master .

They hit in later rounds and free agency. Who cares? The team is great. I just want to be competitive. I don't care how. Yeah I wish they would do better in early rounds. Especially the 1st round. Maybe they will get better. Some were under previous administrations. But the 49ers haven't been great drafting in the 1st round. Thank goodness they are the best in the league drafting 3rd round - 7th round. Especially 5th - 7th round. But I included 3rd because of Fred Warner. It seems 5th round is our money round and now 7th round.

Bobby Beathard.

That was his MO but for different reasons....

BB hated first round picks under the old Salary system you ended up huge money invested in dudes who did not even prove they should be in the NFL.

Every year he traded away that 1st round pick.

This seems like a strategy that could work if you draft really well in the later rounds. You have rookies that come in that will be cheap for many years. You may eventually pay them when they prove they are good, but at least you are not paying top dollar for hope.

McGlinchy was not a big miss. We have gotten quite a few years out of him as a starter and he has been a good run blocker

We need to also account for the lost time from the QBs he got killed if we're making an honest assessment of McG.

Dude single-handedly got our QBs wrecked!! So glad he's gone.
good grief crybabys acting like we don't have a stacked roster, franchise qb on a rookie contract, and 12 picks in the upcoming draft.
This is the wrong way to evaluate our draft success.

You need to set a league baseline success rate for 1st rd players and use that as your baseline.

Success is not just the first round. There are 6 other rounds to evaluate. It doesnt matter where you are successful in the draft just that you are.

Sounds too logical.

Yup. Life is great. Damn franchise QB getting paid less than a million and can't even negotiate a bigger deal until 2025. This is a great situation,in spite of the team taking an all-time L on this trade.

How are the ravens/steelers doing these days?

This is correct.
Only thing that gets me is we could have had Micah parsons instead of Trey lance… like we might be hoisting one already by that move Alone

Best player, in this context feels like hindsight.
