Yes they did. But they also were able to spend as much as 500 hours from the draft to the start of the season with George Seifert and Ray Rhodes learning the job and to play as a unit. Current rookies get around 10 hours working directly with coaches outside of team time.

Ronnie said they considered having Seifert kidnapped so they could get a break :)

The NFLPA and agents have negotiated time down and down and down. It's easier on the players, but it also means the players average being less prepared physically and mentally than they used to be.

Guy I liked in the draft (didn't realize he wasn't drafted)

I wonder if these short 1 hour practices are leading to injuries? Players need to be conditioned to play football through rigorous practice, I remember Jim Harbaugh pissing players off with 3 hour practices. He would say a 3 hour game requires a 3 hour practice 😂

The main players in probably my all-time favorite Niners' secondary. Then you have the vet Hicks as the 4th guy. Who remembers that game in '81 vs. Pitt the rookie season of Lott, Wright & Williamson? Still remember it well...on the road getting a W and making a statement. The Niners took it to Bradshaw, Franco Harris, Stallworth, etc. Lott got in at least a couple of good hits...the secondary got a few picks. What a game!

Yup. Not too surprised honestly. Was hoping he'd make it but we'll see how the roster shakes out. Odds are this could be a case of us over valuing our own depth pieces.

Really didn't notice him much after the 1st pre season game
