A couple of 49ers status updates . . . As I noted, left guard Ben Bartch left practice early yesterday. That was part of the plan, as he returns from a quad injury. He is fine. Also, rookie wide receiver Jordan Watkins is expected back at practice today.

Ricky Pearsall completed his first full week of practice with a very active day. He has looked very good -- the best 49ers wide receiver on the field -- in the time he's been out there.

#49ers FB Kyle Juszczyk went to locker room early in practice. He was moving slowly. TE George Kittle walked over the check on him before Juszczyk went in.

Later, RB Isaac Guerendo also left practice, while favoring his right shoulder/arm.

A few #49ers not participating who were out there yesterday: DE Nick Bosa, OT Colton McKivitz, CB Darrell Luter (personal reasons), DT Kevin Givens.

S Ji'Ayir Brown and WR Jordan Watkins were back after not practicing yesterday.

This has been going on since the 2011 lockout, that's when they made drastic changes to practice. It's had a massive ripple effect injury wise and overworking cause now they hire all these "pro coaches" for the off season and it's not synced with the team. They come in over worked or underworked.
look up the stats for injury increases ever since they changed the practices. I always felt like harbaugh had it right, you have to callus the body for football. Hard, tough practices prepare you for the season.
i understand it sucks as a player but I think it's a direct correlation with players getting hurt all the time now. It's leagues wide

Notes and observations from #49ers practice No. 9:
— Nick Wagoner (@nwagoner) August 2, 2025
- A "medium" practice today for the Niners as they wrapped up this block of three practices by going a little more than an hour and a half. No fans again today because of the second night of Morgan Wallen concerts. I'd bury some…

Yep. And the players are coerced into silence by the union. Remember when the old crappy astroturf finally went away and injuries went down?
Another part of the issue is that young raw players are more likely to struggle as are low draft picks because they don't have the money to pay professionals in the offseason the way the stars can, as well as them not being able to get extra coaching/training from the team they play for.
Basically the whole thing was because a few players were whining that they were not allowed to be lazy in the offseason when the team kept asking them about their offseason training, but were too afraid to say no. Because of a few bad teams and a few bad players everyone suffers.
I wonder when an NFL team is going to figure out they can pay mid-level colleges to run their systems so players in those colleges will be better draft/UDFA targets for the team?
By the way the practice/training/coaching time thing is real at every level now. In Texas high school football players now have it much easier than the marching band and cheerleaders do in terms of time invested over the season.

The system changes explain some of his reading issues. Short arms pushed him out of the draft. But he's got huge hands, and is powerful, and he's never been asked to get off the line hard like the 49ers do.
I would love him to make the roster.

Pretty much how it works this time of year at a quick twitch position that is already thin before several camp injuries happen.

as long as we have key guys like CMC, Brock, Kittle, Trent - our offense will be good. Hopefully better than good, but enough to score.
our defense is all pro in some spots, above average In some, and probably half rookies. Lol but I love the defensive coaching staff we have. I also am a big fan of the new special teams coaching staff.
if the defense and special teams aren't 32nd again, just 15th (mediocre) - we are going to win a ton of games this year. Especially with the relatively friendly schedule

Moreso talking about fast exits- St. Brown and Cephus, rather than injuries. Hoping they can find Cracraft from the bunch. Even a Chris Conley type that could stay on the practice squad would be cool.
