I don't think the rams would want to play us. They prolly wanted us to win against KC and be more relaxed against them.

Now that everyone thinks the Niners are trash again, they'll probably beat the Rams next week so you guys can drink the kool-aid again.

I'll take it.
In this NFC no team - on paper - is beating the Bills/Chiefs in the SB.
But games aren't played on paper. Maybe the NFC winner catches another break this year like the Rams did and the Bills/Chiefs get upset by the Bengals/Ravens/Chargers or one of the other not-as-good AFC teams, making the SB a toss up.
90% chance SB is won by Bills/Chiefs. But that 10% can happen to any of the NFC teams, and with the NFC teams being either good but unproven in the playoffs (Eagles/Cowboys/Vilings/Giants) or mediocre-but-someone-has-to-go-to-the-playoffs (Seahawks/49ers/Rams/Bucs/Packers/Falcons/Cardinals) that 10% is worth fighting for.

Let's go 49ers! Big division game before our bye week to get healthy for the 2nd half run of the season!

Niners will win. Then Kyle is a genius again. Repeat.
I'm not buying it anymore.

Is it too early to call this a must-win game?
If we win, we'll be 4-4 with a 3-0 division record going into the bye and a Rams sweep. Possibly first place or at worst one game out with control of our destiny.
If we lose, we'll be 3-5 with a 2-1 division record going into the bye and a Rams' split. At best third place in the division,
1.5+ games out of first place and no more control over our own destiny.
That bye week would feel soooo much better with a W… I know we came back down 3-5 last season but I don't know if this team can do it two years in a row.

Not quite. No team left on the season schedule is anywhere near as good as the Chiefs.
But, yes, a W in this game helps a ton.

Regroup, sure. But it's pretty obvious there's a big drop from BUF/KC and everyone else. There's an NFC participant in the SB every year, but this year looks sacrificial.
Ultimately we're stuck in suspended animation. We're good enough to make the playoff, but not good though to win. We're still waiting for our chance to view and judge Lance.
