Nah it's just coincidence that we had our best run game in I can't even remember in a game where Brendel was out
We had 9 runs of 5 yards or more in this game before Brendel got injured. We were averaging more than 7 YPC.
Ok this is true, Shanny and everyone balled out in order to get the run game going. But if Hennessy and O line plays together in next couple of games and there's a difference (better O line play), then things could / should change

Puni was playing better tonight than he has all year, That had as much of an impact as anything else. Let's hope he can keep it up.
I agree with this, Puni had maybe only 1 or 2 bad plays where it was noticeable compared to the previous weeks. He played better than he has and that helped alot.
On Brendel being injured, I will never be happy or root for an injury on a player. I did notice that Hennessy being bigger had more anchor on passing downs.

Hennessy was signed to compete for the starting job, but never had the chance due to injury. Hence, it should not be a big surprise that he played well..
In fairness, I believe the game plan and the scheme Kyle set up had a huge impact on the success of the IOL. They were given a chance to do what all OLs love to do - go initiate contact. It is much harder to play football if you are trying to set up and stop a guy who is already a step or two going forward. Once the OL gets a chance to go on the offensive, they get more confidence and play better. It is just the nature of the game and the psyche of the men who play it.

Very good points, I'd like to add that although Kittle had 0 catches he was a massive help in the run game. I believe he's also one of the reasons our run game got some life back finally.

It sucks losing Jake," Shanahan said. "He's been a stud for us. I got a lot of respect for Jake and how much he's helped us. It's just a hamstring, so I know he'll be back soon, but it always does take some time. But it's nice to have Hennessy step up and play well, too."
I thought Hennessy had a real good off-season with us," Shanahan said. "I really enjoyed him throughout OTAs and training camp. I didn't notice anything go bad when Brendel went out. So, Hennessy must have been ready for the opportunity, went in there, and allowed the offense to keep going, made the right calls. I'm sure he blocked well because of the results that we had."
What does Shanahan see in this guy?

Listen I won't pretend that Jake Brendel is a good player because well we all know the answer to this question but I hope he will be back soon.
With all the injuries they had so far, the Niners need everyone this season.

Yea I'm not gonna just kill Brendal as if he's the only weak link in the line. When he's healthy he'll be starting again. And does his brother play for the Vikings? While o line played their best game

Sometimes it takes an injury to force a coach into starting the better player.
Brendel is a vet and knows the protections and the scheme but he is not a good player. He is a liability. If Hennessy shows that he can call the protections he should start as he is the superior player.
Coaches stick with what they know. Until they don't have any other choice. Hopefully Hennessy takes this job and runs with it,

He must be the greatest practice OL in NFL history. It's like Jimmie Ward all over again lol

That's a good point. I'm overjoyed with Hennessy's performance last night, but it's fair to say that he does have a significant injury history.
