Probally just a numbers things. They were alot more thin at DT so they couldn't take from that position. So out of all the edge rushers who do you cut instead of Turay? I personally for me it would have been Hyder because of his age but I can see why they kept him. He can play inside which they need depth at.

I am actually stoked now that they kept Jimmy at 6.2M. Best back up in the league and his trade value goes way up. If you had to win the Super Bowl this year or else, you couldn't ask for a better QB duo. I also believe Trey can handle it and Jimmy is not divisive by nature. Should be good.

Yeah I get it, sucks though, I liked Turay, wanted all 11 DL, maybe he signs to the PS, would be cool to have him on the PS for when we have an injury.

I think Fields is the only player who was drafted the last 2 years to not make this years 53 man roster.
2021
Lance
Banks
Sermon
Thomas
Moore
Lenoir
Mitchell
Hufanga
2022
Jackson
TDP
Gray
Burford
Womack
Zakeli
Purdy
We have 15 players on our 53 that we drafted within the last 2 years. Then you count the undrafted free agent Jordan Mason, That makes it 16. Castro Fields I believe is the only guy we drafted that didn't make the cut.

Well the cap hit is low as Trey is on rookie deal, Brock minimum deal and Jimmy G 6.3 million. I think they need three in case a situation arises to trade Jimmy

Yep, only Castro-Fields, who hopefully clears waivers, plus Kalia Davis who's on NFI. But only TCF didn't make the team that was drafted the past 2 seasons, heck, look at 2020, all 5 picks(Aiyuk, Kinlaw, Woerner, McKivitz, & Jennings) made the 53.

interesting to see that the Cardinals cut Trace Mcsorley.
You don't need Sudfeld if you have JG as the backup. From what I saw from Purdy he's more talented than Sudfeld and only needs some experience to jump way ahead of Sudfeld. Either way,at this point of either one's career,if we get down to Sudfeld or Purdy, we're not going far if they have to sub 6-8+ games straight.
They gave him $2 million guaranteed
Peanuts for an NFL team. Jed blew that on a weekend in Vegas.

Sad about Poe and Turay. Confused about 5 RB and 4 TE. Concerned about current state of the secondary, particularly safety. Fingers crossed that Poe clears waivers, we pick up Tartt, and Turay was an IR move despite not being reported as such.
As for Jimmy, I don't see him being traded. Gonna take, at worst, a second round pick to outweigh the benefit of having him as our backup with a guaranteed future high compensatory pick. He's simply more valuable to us than a day 3 pick, and we're gonna get a 3rd or 4th rounder, albeit a draft cycle later, when he walks after the season. So what teams will give up such capital, that he would waive his no trade clause for? Teams like the Patriots or Dolphins might be a fit if Jones or Tua go down, but even if they think they are competitors, is it worth a second round pick to then for a less-than-1-season rental? Steep price to pay on a guy that they'd let walk after the season. I can only see Commanders, Giants, or Eagles being potential landing spots, and would require a lot of things to go right for us by a lot of things going wrong for them, and I'm not sure the niners would want to help the Eagles given how strong the rest of their roster is and then being in the NFC.

Curious to see how the final week 1 roster shapes up. Gotta believe it'll balance out a bit from the 27-23 swing to the offense (After Kroft and Willis are swapped in tomorrow). They'll be adding a DB or two.

Not what erverybody mocked, but the front office and coaching staff knows more than the media and random nobodies on the internet.
I can easily see Poe and West on the PS. Same for Malik Turner.
Kemoko Turay looked good but he wouldn't be active anyway on game days, so he could be stashed in case of an injury, or he can test luck elsewhere. Willis made the team and he made the game changing ST plays against the Packers. Hyder is older but he has had success in this system
Fans believe there's too many RBs but how fast people forgets last year week 3 they had to run the ball with Sermon, Juice and Jaques Patrick, and Deebo had to get 10 carries per game the second half of the season.
Lets not forget the PS is an appendix of the roster.
Overall great moves today, as always.

Our CB depth is pretty damn good, especially when you consider that Verrett may be ready to play after four games.
Lenoir played well in the preseason and I still think Thomas will be a good player.

It's simple really. Every year we have an injury to a rb or 2 where they miss multiple weeks and they will not be forced to play Deebo at rb again. Also with the TE's it's clear they will be running a lot to take pressure off Trey.

False, Jennings did not make the initial 53 in 2020. He cleared the waivers and went to the PS.
