Looks like a neck & neck Brock vs Josh for MVP. Maybe they gotta play in the SB and settle this SBMVPurdy

There's basically zero chance the Bills are going to the Super Bowl with their current team. They're giving up 29 points a game. It's like they're facing this year's 49ers offense every week on average, lol.

Besides we're going to get a cheapie SB win against the Browns. It is written.

doesn't matter if they were recovered or not. his fumbles have killed important drives forcing them to settle for FGs. not having his fumbles result in turnovers is mostly luck. you CAN NOT put the ball on the ground against defenses in post season. you can downplay this issue but he's been reckless with his handle.

but only ONE 4th quarter comeback in his 15 postseason games and that was last year.

This is largely in part because his defense gives up the game in these situations consistently. In drives that have occurred in the 4th quarter, with 3 minutes or less and the Bills down by 8 or less, Allen has successfully lead a drive to go ahead or tie in 66 percent of his opportunities (4 of 6 I believe). The Bills have won 1 of those games.

To the fumbles, just to illustrate a point let's count every one of Allen's 15 fumbles as actual turnovers. Across 15 playoff games, combined with his 6 interceptions, he would have 38 total touchdowns to 21 total turnovers. Brock Purdy across his 8 playoff games, has 9 total touchdowns and 6 total (actual) turnovers. That's again pretending Allen had 11 turnovers he didn't actually have. Pretty sure we all think Purdy responds well in pressure situations right?

The Bills have averaged 27.5 points per game in Allen's playoff starts. A lot of those games with bad weather conditions. His defense has only allowed less than 27 points in a loss once, and that was his first trip to the playoffs in his 2nd season. The offense has rarely been the problem.

Basically everything you could possibly look at outside of the Bills actually winning the Super Bowl points to Allen being a great player in pressure situations, regular season or playoffs.

you have to get to the SB to win a SB. Josh hasn't been good enough leading his team in the post season to get that chance. stats dont win games.

again my comment was about being chokey in pressure moments... ie. the postseason. dont confuse that opinion with thinking i'm saying he sucks. he doesn't suck. he's a top QB and the AFC East was pretty easy to dominate for him after Brady left and before Maye's arrival. he basically had five years of automatic playoff bids.

Marino was a great player but he too was kinda chokey in the postseason. great players can be kinda chokey and still make the HoF.

oh and since you brought him up and to bring this thread back on topic
Brock Purdy has proven multiple times to actually be clutch in the postseason. two 4th quarter comebacks and four game winning drives in half as many postseason games as Allen.

I understood the point you were trying to make and I addressed it directly. Teams win games. Winning the Super Bowl, which is something we haven't done with Purdy or anybody else in 30+ years, is a team accomplishment. The last time we were there, we lost to the same team that beat the Bills in the playoffs (multiple years in the row). The Bills scored more against that team than we did and they did it in frigid weather conditions, without overtime. Their kicker missed a 44 yard field goal to tie the game with less than 2 minutes left. Josh Allen's fault, I guess. And our team was a hell of lot better than the Bills around the QB. Better offense, better defense, better coaching staff. They had two all pro quality skill position players on offense outside of their QB. We had 5… every starter.

I didn't bring Allen up. There are multiple posts where he's referenced including the one right before my first in this current exchange.

I think it is pretty obvious after the last 2 seasons with all the injuries that Brock is the one holding this thing all together.

Small counter-point, our offense had a host of uncharacteristic plays by our stars in the SB. A fumble by CMC, two drive killing penalties by Trent, Deebo doing nothing, a G who decided not to block the man in front of him. A better offense on paper does not mean they actually show up. Brock was the least to blame on the offense. He missed a read.

And our defensive scheme was trash. You and I commiserated over it.

That said, I don't think the book is written on Allen and his playoff woes. He's also had some huge moments. I wouldn't write him off quite yet in that regard, and honestly wouldn't feel good going against him regardless of O and D surrounding. I feel the same about Brock though. The dude has some magic to him.

Allen is giving away games and should have lost against the Texans and rams this year from his selfishness or ineptitude to the plays called late in the game. I posted a clip in the game day thread right after the rams game about this and that they/announcers glaze his INTs as arm punts when there are open options he has missed

Could you imagine Jimmy?
Josh and Lamar are two of the most overrated QBs. Both had teams that were good enough (high seeds) but failed in the playoffs in a large part due to QB play.

Jackson is 3-5 in playoffs and is always injured. He is 100% dependent on his running ability to play well. He cannot play well enough from the pocket to beat good teams regularly and especially in the postseason. He has another injury (high ankle not good) and his ability to run/take hits will be hindered more and more each year.

Allen is legit stupid. His turnovers cost him team a SB last year (no way he would have lost to broncos and bo nix). It isn't the first time and it won't be the last. Hell i still remember when rodgers tore his Achilles and dude threw 4 straight picks to lose to zach wilson on national TV. Simply not turning the ball over is a big part of what makes a great QB. Looks like he can't get past an overrated Maye and Patriots and will lose again the playoffs due to his picks/fumbles.

Most importantly neither of these QBs can beat Kermit especially in the playoffs. Burrow though he misses half the seasons at least made it to a SB (beating Kermit) and was a pass away from winning it.

Purdy is head and shoulders smarter and better QB than Allen and Jackson. Yes they are better athletes that can throw the ball further. Both will struggle as they get older and their athleticism advantage fades.

I have to say, when you factor in the reverse racism point you made in your previous post, along with your player descriptions that fly in the face of pretty much all available evidence, and viewing football as QB 1v1's, you have a pretty compelling case here.

You mentioned Brock has been a top 5 QB since he stepped on the field. I assume you have Mahomes and Stafford there as well, as they have 1v1'd their way to Super Bowl wins in the past. Burrow must be there as he successfully beat Mahomes in the past (feel free to correct me if Burrow isn't there). Who is the 5th? I'm going to guess it isn't Hurts even though he fits your model perfectly.

The thing is those 2 QBs have 2-3 games a year where they look like hall of famers, and that's what they remember

I really think they need to look at QB play in the playoffs to determine how great they are.
Purdy is 5-2 (not counting one series in eagles NFC championship game as a loss) across 3 years.

-Close game in SB where he got like 5 plays where he had rushers in his face immediately. Should have won but Moody missed an extra point and defense couldn't stop KC offense
-One blowout loss where we basically had practice squad players on both offense and defense.

All others were great wins with good/great stats and/or clutch plays throughout the game. Basically played a critical role in winning especially in the SB run beating Detroit and GB (defense played terrible both games).

Both Lamar and Josh should definitely have been to SBs but they FAILED due to lack of playmaking in the clutch. There is a great play shown above a few posts where Josh missed a wide open receiver recently, he did something similarly in a playoff game against KC and instead went for a TD to heavily covered WR. These supposedly great QBs won't throw it to the open guy cause they can't read the defense, panic, then think they can squeeze a ball into tight coverage to win the game. Jackson refused to run against KC in the AFC game like my man you can't read defenses and suck playing from the pocket esp against a real defense, you're best asset is your legs LMFAO. If lamar's ability to run is compromised, they will be eliminated round 1 again.
