Yep, historically Purdy would try to do too much in games like this and that is when you get that Ravens game where he threw a bunch of picks. He has matured and realized it is better to take what is there and live to fight another series.

Agree.

I mean, it was 2 and 6, over a minute left and throws almost what looks like a hail mary type ball right to a defender, I don't get it. It was like, he thought he could just big arm his way to victory but right into double coverage lol. If Brock did that, which I don't think he would, not in that situation, people would be saying to start Mac.

6. Garcia - 36

Two things here i noticed:
1) Purdy has played that many games already?! Time Flies!!
2) Can't believe he's already tied Jimmy G, he's won a lot
Can't wait to see how we look when Evans is healthy again, Robinson is back, Strib is back, cooks is up to speed etc.

cant wait to see how we look when Bosa is out there with Mykel. That'll be a really tough d line to run against and actual pass rush

JG missed more games because of injury. He missed 30 games in his 6 seasons with the Niners. Purdy only missed significant time last year when he had that turf toe injury.

I'm not sure those numbers are accurate. This is what pro-football reference shows (including playoffs):

Jimmy G: 42-19 (38-17 regular season, 4-2 playoffs)
Purdy: 39-18 (34-15 regular season, 5-3 playoffs)

Yeah, I think after this Denver win it shows the 49ers are right in the thick of things for the NFC Championship this season. If they can ever field a healthy roster this might be a year to go for it. Big if.

I loved Jimmy and everything he did for this franchise.

But I'm sorry. He was atrocious in the playoffs. Not average. Not below average. Atrocious.

His best playoff performance was probably the NFC Championship loss to the Rams where we scored 17 points and he moved the ball 0 yards when it mattered the most.

Purdy lapped all of Jimmy's playoff performances combined in his first playoff game. The two playoff comebacks in 2024 clearly put him on a different level and then the win last season in Philadelphia was another feather in his cap.

All you had to do was watch each of them play. It's night and day. One knows how to make THE plays to win the playoff game. The other needs everything to go perfectly.

Jimmy was good. Purdy's record took a big hit from the down year in 2024 when the team imploded. He lost as many games that year as the rest of his career combined (9).

One had an elite defense that carried the day. The other has had to manage injured defenses and abysmal coordinating since Meco left.

Yup crazy how hated in he is/was but that's 49ers fans for you. If it's not Joe or Steve they are ungrateful. Sadly, if Brock starts to struggle it'll be his turn.

To yesterdays game, I thought Brock missed a few throws he shouldn't have but I thought he played pretty damn well besides that. I'm perplexed why some are giving him a hard time. Denver is a good team with a great defense.

Mahomes and Stafford and Lawrence did far worse vs the Broncos defense and they all had better wrs at the time
