Nick Wagoner's report on Brock Purdy's day against the Titans:

"This was a practice with QB Brock Purdy in total control. Not counting him spiking the ball once in two-minute, I had Purdy at 21-of-27 on the day with no interceptions and at least three for sure touchdowns with… pic.twitter.com/Y13saYnBeW

*I already answered your 2nd paragraph, even if you're afraid of leaving them with a little over a minute on the clock, he still should have thrown it away and then go for it rather than throwing into coverage to our 3rd TE
You came in here making wild claims based on something from a 2024 season where little went right for the team. That's a you problem.
What you see as excuses is context of the play and reasons why an NFL QB makes a decision that to you appears to be terrible.
Unlike you I actually went back and looked at Brock's interceptions from 2024 and 2025 seasons and the majority of them were nothing like you described.
Also Brock cleaned up the hero ball stuff in a big way in the 2nd half of last season…which by my calculations is the most recent evaluation we have of him. So while you're out here screaming about a play from 2024 like he just chucked it up into triple coverage in the red zone that's not actually what happened. QBs also don't get to make decisions to go for it on 4th down. They have to make the play when it's there to be made. You sitting here complaining that Brock actually made a play to win a key divisional game is absurd. He did exactly what you complained about. It was 3rd down and he made a play. A near INT doesn't mean a thing when the play is actually a TD that wins the game.
If you want to make casual takes built on generalities that are not based on reality then don't be shocked when you get questioned on it.
I mean throwing it up for grabs "hoping" the ref throws a flag isn't smart and if the rain really was an issue all game then why did he throw it deep on 2nd down? Your excuses don't add up.
I know QBs don't make the decision to go for it on 4th down but it would be wise to run it back rather than throwing it into super tight coverage. Are you implying Brock took it into his own hands because he didn't trust Moody?
So I went to go look at all of his ints myself and this is what I found
There are some that got tipped, bad communication, a few where the DB makes a play but bro almost half of these are him throwing it into coverage on 1st and 2nd down with quite a few of those that were in the waning 4th quarter or in/near field goal range
Which ones? I appreciate you going back and looking but you're pulling up broadcast footage. I looked at all of his picks on all22 film that actually shows the full picture. I've never claimed I'm 100% right in what I'm saying which is why I'm asking for the specific plays.
Maybe I'm wrong but from what I recall there was a small minority of his picks that were what you're describing. I will add some I felt initially were hero ball/bad decision making were not nearly as bad once people smarter than me broke down the schematic problem on that play, like one of the picks in that week 1 game, where CMC tripping at the line allowed the linebacker to drift further back than he should've been and undercutting the throw in what looks to be a really bad pick. Yet had CMC done what he does 99% of the time and it's a window Brock hits for a big play.

I heard some talking head on the radio talking about how Kyle thinks Interceptions are overrated as a negative and that pushing the ball down the field outweighs most Int risk. That is why he likes to go to the crowded middle of the field. The guy compared it to Moneyball.

That's the thing. I understand the point of saying QBs should be smarter with the football at times but the majority of people complaining about Brock's decision making point to 2024 season when so little went right and Brock was throwing to guys who either couldn't get open or weren't understanding the offense to do things how they should be done.
Us watching a play during the game is very difficult to understand if every guy was in the right spot to make that play successful. Ricky looked like he was getting open but there were lots of comments coming out until the last few games where while he looked open he wasn't where he was supposed to be on a play which in a timing based offense makes a big difference.
If Brock gets a look from the defense that looks good with our playcall then why not take the shot? It's easy to go back and complain about the turnovers but overlook the amount of times those result in positive plays. Heck Since07 is literally using a game winning TD on a 3rd down as a negative.
We went through this song and dance in the offseason Brock was up for his contract so it's crazy to me that people are still acting like Brock isn't playing well.
That Seattle game especially is crazy to me to be used as a negative. You had Brock playing on an injured toe. No Kittle, Jennings(on top of Aiyuk, Robinson, Cowing, Watkins) out in that 4th quarter and we're claiming Brock shouldn't do what he did on that play? That's 5 of our would be top 6 WRs last season if everyone was healthy and not suspended.

That Lombardi journalist that covers the 49ers says Brock is the best in the game. It stirred some laughter out of Jesse and Grant. Not sure I'd take Brock over Allen or Mahomes but everyone is entitled to an opinion. I think he's efficient as Kyle does whatever he can to set him up to succeed but we all have our limitations and Brock's is obviously arm strength which is why all of his passes are in the middle of the field. If you can't spray it around to the deep outside on a rope then you're sort of relegated to operating in the middle more. If you can pepper the ball down field outside the numbers to different receivers it'll give your offense more flexibility. Hard Knocks did an in depth, scientific analysis of Darnold's throwing motion. Sam throws a beautiful ball at a 600 rpm spin rate according to Macdonald and Kupp says it's an easy ball to haul in

Sure would be nice if Brock could play one good half of football in 3 playoff games and then get carried by the D to a title. Dont see that being in the cards anytime soon however.

David Lombardi has never seen a move the 49ers made that isn't great. We all know this. It doesn't mean Jesse or Grant are somehow any better in their analysis. They're just two opposite ends of the spectrum.
Saying all of Brock's passes are in the middle of the field is clearly false though so...
QB's don't need to spray passes to the outside. It's a good to have but not a necessity. Which is why many QBs with bazooka arms never played as good as Purdy has. Brock's arm is rarely an issue if things are going well. He may never be able to make the insane throws that the elite guys can make but if he's doing his job and the offense around him is playing well there isn't a dire need for those types of plays.
Joe Montana was one of the best QBs to play the sport and his arm strength is probably pretty comparable to Brock's. Drew Brees - another guy who wasn't a big arm guy and yet he was one of the best passers in league history stat wise.
