Or speed. The lack of speed was the biggest issue.

When was the last time we had a legit deep threat? Ted Gin?

We have always been a short passung game YAC, pound the rock , play action offense.

Ted Ginn couldn't catch a cold. Terrible hands. His catch % was 47%. He only had 380 yards receiving in his 3 years in SF. Fans love those deep bombs but the fact is they aren't very common in the NFL. Most of the really deep ones happen when a defender falls down or on a broken play where the defender loses track of the receiver. Accuracy and quick delivery out to about 20 yards is more important. It's what makes Brock so effective.

True Ted did have a hands problem but you don't always need to hit on the deep ones if you have a threat of hitting them. Defense has to respect it to a degree at least.

The rel issue heree is thise deep passes areen't a sta;;le of the 49er offense. You need really good pass blocking along qiht recievers thatg can get ope deep. The pass blocking is sub par. Kyle's offense has traditionally been based around a good running gamer and a lot of short passes that are designed to create YAC. Many of ther best teams run that style now because it's more efficient. That doesn't mean they don't take an occasional shot but having a one trick pony with speed and bad hands doesn't add a whole lot. Hopefully Stribling will provide the speed and size to get deep on occasion as well as being a solid short to mid range receiver.

I don't really read much into this. Pretty much all of Brock's interceptions last year were a result of the toe injury and any of the other ones I blame on Jauan Jennings since he's no longer here.

you actually got me to look this up, and it's kinda hilarious cuz i remember debating ppl on lamar and ppl told me he's a running back, well he's a running back with highest qb rating in nfl history. take that for what it is worth i suppose. i don't see brock on the list he probably doesn't have enough attempts to qualify, i remember jimmy wasn't on the list either for a while, now he's top 10. jimmy is actually > brady in qb rating, which is a good reason to do away with qb rating as a rating
We just need Brock to play like how he did against the Bears and Colts vs all defenses next year.

amen to that, the bears game was qb perfection. you can prolly stack that game up against any game from any qb all season

He needs 150 pass attempts to qualify.

Highest rated.....and that means...

Toe comment was directed at the webzoners making excuses for issues Purdy was having at the beginning of the season.

I did a report in HS math class on QB Rating cuz Steve Young owned that record so the stat will always have a special place in my heart but as with any stat…it doesn't tell the whole story.

Nothing says that than the box score of the Falcons/Pats SB where Matt Ryan's rating was 144.1 and Brady's was 95.2.

Having said that it's just one of several stats that shows Brock in a positive light. And yes he needs a few more attempts to qualify.

I'd love to see Brock on the Drew Brees trajectory but with more SB wins and for the team that drafted him of course. They're pretty similar players. Drew just really got comfortable in that Payton offense with an OL that kept him clean and he really started piling up the accolades.

Funny enough Drew also had his share of interceptions.
