all we need is health, especially on the o line. Only weak part of our O, IMO, is the TE depth. I don't love our o line but I don't think it's bad - just need solid LG play.

if Kittle can't play early on, which idk how I feel about him playing early on regardless, the backup guys concern me.

Until the 49ers get back to running the ball i would temper those expectations. They were garbage last year and Brock isnt going to succeed without it.
Didn't succeed at 13-6, o k

Did you enjoy watching Seattle completely dominate us and win the SB on our home field.

This team was 24th running the ball last year. If you think we be successful in 2026 with out improvement i got nothing for you.
You never have anything and it's always the lame posts that you can't even call takes

you base everything off one game where we shouldn't have been close to being there and that is being successful due to the circumstances we've gone through from the start of the season.

I think a revitalized Puni, which was hurt all year last year. And a solid LG - I think we have a couple solid options with the 2nd year guy from Iowa and the dude we signed from Miami.

my only concern is the center. He's average on his best days and that's concerning, we have some young talent that could step in if he's hurt though.

overall, I agree that we need more efficiency from our run game. Can't average 3 yards a clip again. I like kid Black and the 2nd year guy James. I'm optimistic.

Our line will be better but we have shown we can win if the running game stalls. The pass run balance attempts favored more pass last season than the usual close to being even in attempts.

the trouble is not the offense, it's the defense

Ya....dont need a ruuning game. What was i thinking? Its not like Shany loves run play action or just run the ball. He is more of an aerial attack offense kind of guy.

A strong running game is always a key for success for Kyle's offense but Kyle can still dial up those things if the running game stalls like he said so it wasn't as delusional as you claim. You're both right.

And technically last year we saw a big dip in play action overall and i don't think it was because the running game wasn't up to snuff. I think Kyle is in a better place to run a pass heavy offense than in the past and Brock is a large part of why.

OL does need to step up tho. Everyone pray that Willis finds a way to grab the starting C spot soon and plays at a high level there for 10+ years. We need something like that to happen.

i think that's the biggest concern for me. the run game was uncharacteristically missing in action. i trust kyle is on it. my concern is we need depth behind cmc, right now it's very unproven james, black, and maybe IG. brock i have no questions on other than maybe health and maybe drive the ball a bit. brock is extremely good

Unproven isn't always a bad thing but I get the concern for sure. I like what we've been hearing so far about Black but obviously until the pads come on or even before real games start it's nothing proven.

CMC's touches are concerning and that's scary going into this season especially with the big dip in his YPA in the running game. Let's hope he's able to get back to more game breaking type of runs but it will be asking a lot. Ideally the WR additions help both schematically and blocking on the outside.

You really think CMC YPA will be better? We invested 2 high drafts at RB for what reason again? Its not just inept run blicking. Shany seems to not want to use the players he drafts and would rather run a declining CMC into the ground. CMC is great in space and catching the ball out of the backfield l. His running days are done.

Do I think so? I have no idea. I'm hoping but not expecting. Tho his career YPA was a good .7 yards higher than last year so there is room to improve.

yes i think it will last year we had no weapons on the outside or speed to threaten the top

Do you think it will be worse?
Everyone is looking for the next Brock Purdy but yet fools want to rank him as mid tier all while trying to replicate our offense and QB play

make it make sense

It's pretty simple really - draft bias.

Tom Brady outside of his lack of mobility had prototypical QB size. 6'4 huge hands, good size and a pretty good arm. It may not have been a cannon but he definitely had no arm concerns.

And even Brady with his 3 SB rings didn't get love until he started getting the big time numbers. So Brock with his smaller size, weaker arm and getting the "Shanahan" downgrade certainly can't be expected to get his flowers without the SBs to show for it.

Now with all these freak athletes playing it's even more tougher for some to give a guy credit for succeeding because of the stuff behind his ears.

If we think about it Purdy isn't far off from Joe in terms of stature. Joe was an inch or so taller but weighed much less. Arm talent I don't know if there is a huge gap there either. And we know what Joe was able to do. Hell Drew Brees - another guy who isn't known for arm strength but was arguably one of the best deep ball passers cuz of his accuracy and timing.

Purdy just has to earn it either with SB titles and/or stats where people can't deny how good he is. I just hope we get our OL strong across the board at some point because that will allow Brock to really shine similar to how Drew was able to do.
