I'm not against it. I'm just saying if he takes a few more sacks dont be surprised.
Well sometimes killing a play (aka throwing the ball away) is a positive. If you're trying to force big plays on every broken play, bad stuff will inevitably happen.
I think Brock does really good on broken plays, and idc if he rushes for a few yards or throws off the broken play - I just don't want him getting hit or turning the ball over. I'd rather him just throw the ball away at times and live for another play.
I'm a major Brock fan but i've noticed that when injuries happen to the starters - he tries to over compensate. Which usually results in turnovers. I don't mind him playing hero ball when he's throwing to quality starters (which we've missed at WR for afew years now) but not to back ups or mediocre players.
He shouldn't be playing hero ball as much as he does. He's got the Favre mentality with a fraction of the arm. We've seen him make stupid ass decisions with the ball when the starters were fully healthy it's just a trait Purdy has.
These are variations of the conversations we had before his deal got done. And reality is some of you guys overblow his decision making.
I went back and looked at his turnovers early last year and in 2024 and only a couple of them were what you would call "hero ball" level mistakes.
You also don't need Favre's arm to play hero ball in a good way. It's funny how many people(likely you included) were complaining about paying him all this money as a franchise QB when he's not elite...and yet the majority of the plays by the elite guys everyone gets hot and bothered by them playing hero ball.
It's all about realizing when hero ball is worth the risk. I thought Brock did a much better job of understanding that in those later games. Play it safe on 1st and 2nd downs and save it if needed on key downs unless you're pinned deep in your territory or already in FG range.
I think the strenth of the two tight end formation is 1) more potential protection for Brock in the passing game 2) some better potential in scoring in the red zone. Those are the two just off the top of my head right now. The key is for Jake to get better at his blocking, for sure.
