I thought you Americans loved rags-to-riches, triumph against adversity, nobody-believed-in-you, Cinderella-never-turning-into-a-pumpkin, victory through sheer determination and effort, stories. What's more fitting in these narratives than a little guy drafted last in the draft who looks like he needs his mum's permission to stay up for a night game, much less start in it? Not just Mr Irrelevant, but Mr Everyone? If this were a daytime soap character we would say he was a bit too unlikely even for the format. And we lucked into him?
It is unbelievable how butt-hurt the entire nerd&draftnik community (everyone is in a "community" these days) is over misjudging this guy, that four years down the line they are STILL willing him to actually turn into a pumpkin. I marvel at how enthusiastically they pick apart his miscues and how readily they dismiss his successes. Are people's identities really so tied-up to the stupid parlour game that is the mock draft? Seriously, what's the big deal? OK, so you guys were off by about 200 spots in this case. Is this such a crushing blow to your manhood?

If Brock Purdy could keep being the number one QB in the pressure to sack ratio, that would be a great news for the team.

FWIW he was playing against an inferior team. As of right now his numbers SHOULD look good. To me his best game was against Cleveland and Myles Garrett. His numbers could've very well have been crap against a top 5 defense at home in the cold.

Same thing happened to Brady in 2005-2006, and he had won 3 SBs. At that time they gave him credit for being clutch in big moments, but otherwise the Pats defense and Belichick were the real stars of those SB teams.
Then 2007 happened, Brady put up big stats, and that argument against his greatness died.
I'm not saying Brock is gonna end up like Brady - he's got a ways to go for sure. What I'm saying is that these types of critics have always been around.

Comparing Brock to Brady, Montana and Young in any way does not have the argumentative effect some of you think it does.

How can you compare them? They played in different eras with different rules. They played in different offenses with different players around them. Thye had different coaches.

I'm not the one who feels the need to compare Brock to those guys.

Just a product of the way QB's are argued about among the vast majority of fans.
Arguments usually revolve around team success and/or statistics. It wasn't until very recently that fans had access to game film or other content based on game film (like JTO's videos as an example) which are readily available through social media.
Fans see parallels in the style or structure of the arguments for and against whatever player it is.

A major problem IMO. The tool 'could' be informative if there wasn't some sort of agenda or narrative behind it. I see tons of twitter graphs and charts and nonsense links to PFF and whatnot.....some of it is beyond a joke, but someone comes up with a formula and.....I guess it's fact? No.
Just look at this thread since Purdy had a good day against a trash Tenn team. Names like Burrow, Brees, Brady are dropped.....John Elway was 'average' and such.
