What disappoints me about 49er fans is how much they are SALIVATING about Brock struggling a bit. It's like it's super exciting and pleasurable to see him not be the guy. They can't just be satisfied that a young QB has had a great run followed by a little inconsistency. No, they have to kick him to the curb at the first sign of difficulty.
You call 20 crappy games a little inconsistency?
It wasn't 20 crappy games. The offense played fairly well in most games last year. It was the defense & ST that struggled more.
The offense had issues in the redzone and running, and Purdy had some bad games. But it wasn't a train wreck where he threw 25 INTs or something. In 15 games he threw for 3864 yards 20 TDs and 12 INTs with a 96.1 rating.
Mediocre! Not exactly 265M stats.
It was decent. Obviously not amazing. His contract was about his whole 3 years and projecting a 25-year-old QB into the future.
I'm fine with someone saying his 2024 was mediocre, and obviously the team success wasn't there either. But saying his last 20 games were "crappy" is an exaggeration in order to justify a fan's emotions about how much money someone makes when they aren't playing their best, even if they aren't playing terrible, either.
People really struggle saying someone is playing mid. Low mid, merely okay, mildly good - these are never the evaluations. It's always "He's awesome! Have my child!" or "He's terrible! GTFO you b***h!"
