i came across this video on YouTube - shows some really positive things that Purdy did last game, INCLUDING A NO LOOK PASS, but just interesting. It doesn't go into what he did bad - just FYI.

QB wins and team success/ SB wins is often the reason Tom Brady is cited as 'The Goat' along with his crazy longevity.
But that is the point. For all of us Niners fans, if you think Joe Montana was GOAT (at least before Brady took the title), do you think QB wins and Rings are BS?
His SB won loss record gets brought up a lot.
How did we go from W/L records for average joes to multiple SB appearances and the W/L records in them?
Do they realize that the a SB win counts exactly the same in a W/L record as the 1st game to a season?
Which further defeats their original point? Lol.
Win or Lose,...getting to multiple SBs as a starting QB over & over is clear circumstantial evidence that you're probably doing something right.
This has ZERO to do with an ongoing regular season W/L tally.

People talk about Montana being 4-0 all the time when talking about his greatness.
Bradshaw is 4-0 too but I've never heard him mentioned as possibly the greatest QB ever. Why is that?
Why have I never seen a legit Bradshaw vs. Montana debate from the 90's?

His improvement from his last college game to a few weeks ago, is remarkable. The way he spent all of his time after his college season to review his film, be honest with himself, and work on it all - who doesn't love that.
that gets me so excited because you know he is going to do the same thing after this season and come into camp a well oiled machine. The qb competition, if we have one, will be a lot of fun to follow.
if this guy develops into a star qb for us, wow. With his salary and us having a star qb with the surrounding talent… FINALLY… would be a lot of fun for us fans over the next decade.

It's kind of funny though.. If you think about it. His worst start so far is one where, although he missed several guys and threw a pick, he still made some huge precision throws, scrambled out of pressure numerous times (he was pressured a lot), brought the team back from behind, drove the team down with just a minute left for a game winning field goal attempt, and ultimately won in a shootout where we almost put up 40 points -- something we rarely did these past few years.
And he's a seventh round rookie? Dang.
Is this a guy you can figure out? It seems like so far, the best you can do is hope to get pressure, which affects any QB, or bat balls down. He just seems to deliver in every other facet so far.
Pocket elusiveness/mobility
Quick release
Cool under defensive pressure
Calm in key situations
Adequate arm
Strong football IQ
Trusts his reads
Generally makes good decisions
Goes for the big play when available
Natural leader
Physically and mentally tough
Doesn't snowball after a mistake
High character player & humble
I have been cautiously optimistic and I'm still trying to keep some sense of that, although it's getting harder and harder to ignore the fact that the kid is checking off virtually every box there is for a franchise quarterback.
Next steps would be to be big time in big time games -- the playoffs.
1) How much of it do you equate to the super-offense he has with CMac here and Kittle now healthy? Jimmy looked pretty darn good in this CMac-infused offense as well,...the best he ever has, and that's without a training camp. So this obviously is an open-ended question. And the more important question @ hand with a guy like Purdy is....
2) As teams get more used to his game, is he already relatively close to his peak? Or does he have alot more room for growth?
youre always trying to attribute Purdy's success to others. lol. while Jimmy did look good, Purdy has elevated the offense by about 10 pts per game against better defenses.
Stop concerning yourself about what I'm personally doing when the entire post was about the potential of a rookie with a handful of starts. 49ers.
The potential of a rookie to improve is clearly a legit question.
Explain why you feel Purdy wouldn't improve?
WTF??? How did you come up with such lunacy? I asked a question and never suggested he can't improve.
Some guy's ceilings are higher than others. But please don't make up quotes that were never said or even suggested.
"The potential of a rookie to improve is clearly a legit question."
Yea, thanks for highlighting a quote because you clearly couldnt answer. But you realize that Purdy's name is not "rookie", for starters?
I was referring to "a rookie" in general terms, as in all rookies, 100% of them, and the potential they have to improve.
How is this in any way suggesting a specific player wont improve? You pulled that out of thin air.

Win-lose stats matter but need context. The stat as a whole doesn't tell you a damn thing, you know?
I'm not old enough to have watched Bradshaw, so I'm not sure if he was great for his era, but no one talks about Bradshaw cause he isn't the reason they won, they probably would of won with just about anyone and his stats are mediocre. He's lucky he had that defense because if they don't win those Super Bowls, which the defense was the driving force, Bradshaw is probably a footnote and def wouldn't be in the hall of fame - in my opinion.
Montana on the other hand was the driving force behind our success, similar to Brady in NE.
but no one wins a game on their own, football is the most team centric sport there is. There is a lot of ways to win a football game. If this is regarding Jimmy - he may not be THE reason we win so often with him but he definitely helped and ran the offense well, for the most part.
Brock is doing what Jimmy does but better and more. It's insanely impressive. Jimmy should be a starter in this league and will be, just not here.

Some people think it is a legit question for one QB but not another apparently.
Since you, Furlow, and Jeepy are so effective @ completely changing up people's clear original points,...I guess I'll go ahead and copy & paste the original questions for clarity:

How you guys can take a 2-sided, open-ended question and convert it somehow to a 1-sided answer is beyond amazing,...lol.

I'll answer some of these with my opinion, if you don't mind.
1) i think a lot of his success can be tied to the great talent around him and great play design/calling, but I wouldn't say he wouldn't of done well if we had less talent. He most likely would make a lot more mistakes because he would probably feel pressure to always make a play - similar to his time at Iowa st. I think our talent around him benefits him tremendously, like it would any qb, because it allows him to focus on the task at hand with confidence.
2) I personally don't think he is near his peak, at all. If he was having all this success because he is just running around and playing off of instinct, I would say he is going to get exposed soon. But his strengths are in the things that make any qb great, regardless of athleticism - reading defenses, mechanics, play progression and recognition etc.
as he gets more experience, he will identify and respond quicker to plays and we will be in constant situations to score.
and yes, Jimmy was playing great ball before his injury. CMC is literally the perfect security blanket for a QB. He reads and reacts to the defense like a qb (which is A TREMENDOUS HELP to a qb), runs routes and catches like a top WR in this league (he could literally switch to full time WR and be a pro bowler), and gashes defenses on the ground. So it's fair to say that Lance would most likely of looked better with CMC.

Ah s**t Kyle...

Brock's cock is so big, he has to tuck at the end of the run less he gets a penalty

Juice is the emergency QB. He needs reps in that area as well.

I want to know what throws Purdy "missed" during the game. I can recall the poorly thrown ball that should have been picked by a safety. The Kittle decision that was picked. And another Kittle miss that was a decent checkdown to CMC. What else am I missing? Why are so many people hard on his game this past week?

Idk. I thought the game started off rough for him but he bounced back and helped the team come away with a win. I feel really confident going into the playoffs with Purdy at QB.
