Just pay the man and lets get on with it. These contract negotiations for the 49ers are terrible they just can't seem to figure out how to get things done in a timely manner.

I don't get people saying they're not a big fan of him getting $50 mil plus. Why not, Brock Purdy is a franchise QB, he's out played pretty much all the QB's that are getting paid $50 mil plus.

#1 the APY really isn't the meat of a contract.
#2 Most people are delusional vs the reality of a current QB contract.
They're gonna squeeze it out just before TC starts

Cool let me know how that goes for you.

Just because other teams make stupid mistakes and overpay players doesn't mean we have to
Because we have the leverage = Purdy is under contract and can be franchise tagged for two years
Because Mahomes get paid $45 million a year ... so offer Purdy $1 more than Mahomes :)

Do you know what Patrick Mahomes' cap hit will be next season?

His contract is an anomaly and nobody should be looking at it for comparison. Some of you guys are in absolute denial of how the QB market works these days in the NFL. The dumbest thing the 49ers can do if they honestly believe Brock is their QB of the future is play hardball with him with the idea of pushing the deal a year, two or three down the road.

Now you can get a lot of team friendly language in the contract after the down season and the fact that he's going from baby $ to life changing $. They will never have more leverage than they do now.

Playing hardball over 1-2 million now will potentially cost them 10-15 million a year or two from now when Brock has more good tape to look at or more QB deals are made or the cap space goes up big time cuz of the 18th game/new TV deals.

The ONLY benefit to not getting a deal done now and punting to next offseason is if they don't believe Brock is their guy in which case we're in trouble cuz Mac Jones is 100% not that guy either.
None of us knows what the sticking points are. Is it money? Is it length of contract? Options? Out clauses? None of us knows any more than the rumors that come out every other day.

Yep. Takes 2 to sign a contract. And the player's agent can be as hard to please.
offseason really sucks

my guess is around memorial day, right before OTA's. May 27-28. Brock expressed his desire to attend all team activities, and the 49ers seem to want a drama-free off season, and both sides will make it happen. Until then, there is no rush to do anything.

It takes two, it's not always the teams front office creating the delay. The majority of the time it's the player and the agent (mostly agent). Brock's contract is tricky, his stats say he's a top 10 QB but most feel he shouldn't be paid as such.

I like that part in your post, because we all have seen it happen and sometimes you lose the player - see Carson Palmer and Kirk Cousins. I believe it will get done and all of this will be an afterthought once he's on the field.

Agebtys are a pain. I remember the days when Willie Mays just went in and sat down witht the owner. He said I'm okay with whatever you want to pay me. No holdouts. No whining. Players played because they loved the game and not just the money.

bellyaching about it cant force Brock's signature.

He has a right to not sign if he doesnt want to.

Also, $50M will be the new $30M soon enough. The NFL will be adding an 18th game to the regular season in the near future. With more revenue will result in continued salary cap growth. Signing Purdy to even a $55M deal will look like a bargain in 2 years.

In the last 4 years, here's the NFL salary cap:

2022: $208M
2023: $225M
2024: $255M
2025: $279M

Let's assume 2026 will be $300M, which the estimated salary cap utilization would be 16%-18%. In 2027 and assuming they add an 18th game, that contract will account for sub-15% of the books at a >$330M salary cap. And that's assuming they don't do any void years and Purdy earns his full contract.

Point being, folks are looking at the $ amount vs. the % amount which is the more important given salary cap increases have accelerated in this decade.

Brocks contract will be a bargain relatively soon. That's why we need to sign him asap. The longer it goes, the worse it'll get. Guys are just going to keep getting paid. There isn't a way out of it besides going with someone else or a rookie.

my opinion is that he has earned it and we should pay him. Keep building around him and make another run at the big dance.
What contract, though? There are no terms to any contract right now. How can we say something's a bargain when we have no idea what it is?

If it's a bargain now, then what's stopping it from being a bargain in 2026 or 2027? What makes "2025" the "year of the bargain" ??
