Lol 8 years?

Why not?

Might wanna see a little more 1st?

Is this really the hold up? Just give the guy five. Maybe they will hit somewhere in the middle at four yrs?

At what cost though? He signs 3 year $150 mil contract. Cool, then Jayden Daniels, Bo Nix and Caleb and Drake Maye all start setting new marks on 2nd contracts, Herbert, Lawrence, Burrow sign deals for 65 mil per. Then what? Pay him that? Let him walk?

Surely we've seen enough, at least while we have Kyle he's the perfect QB for us, he gets the system and is a playmaker. An 8 year deal would look stupid now, no one would be saying that in a few years time.
Risk involves cost as well. Alot moreso even.

How many teams are signing their QBs to 8+ yr contracts?

The Chiefs, actually just the Chiefs, the Bills did 6, Bengals are cheap and stupid so did 5.

Fine go 6 years and spread the cost

I'm kind of glad it's not. I'm treating this year as a mini rebuild anyway. If Mac attack Jones ends up playing then so be it. I love Brocks work ethic and savvyness, but this needs to be a patient process. 50 mil plus is a lot to dish out annually

Once again...that's not how that works.

Who cares? Obviously however many years we decide on will not be fully guaranteed. This is something that you have failed to grasp this entire offseason. Most of a contract is window dressing. What difference does it make if we give him a 5 year contract with an easy out after year 3, or if we give him a 20 year contract with an easy out after year 3?

The OP cared when he suggested an 8 year contract. There's nothing to grasp beyond that... lol. Its unnecessary.

btw... didnt u say he wont show up to workouts without a contract in hand? Or was that mini camps?

Because he's already done the former. There's a chance that that promise you made goes up in flames (if it already hasnt). We'll see though.

You take the risk in order to spread the signing bonus out to reduce his cap number in certain years. You can probably do it with a 6 year deal, chucked out 8 as an arbitrary number, just suggesting a way to get ahead of the market for a change and controlling the impact his contract will have on team building.

What if Kyle quits in a couple years? Purdys production has a lot to do with Kyle's play calling and system.
when are we signing him?

When he signs his name on the contract

It's already done. They're just giving Kittle his time to enjoy his new deal and waiting for the 49er fans to stop complaining about the OL to announce Brock's deal.
