QB Brock Purdy Thread

Doesn't move me at all if players decide to attend these off season workouts
I love Brock, while making Pennie's (relatively speaking), is showing up for his guys. The qb doing that sends a huge message - same for Warner.

im glad guys are doing this during big contract situations to set the tone and culture because the last years were a disaster on that situation.

i understand players don't want to risk an injury, I get it, but I love the message this sends. Your soon to be highest paid player ever for 49ers, is showing up to get better and for his teammates, while making crap. Risking record amounts just to get better and be there for his boys. Love it

I wonder if his agent is screaming at him to not participate in any team activities until the deal is signed. I think most would discourage it, but seems like Purdy is making his own decision.

Or he could be advising him to show up and show faith in the team.

To me, it's more about setting a tone and standard. An expectation. It's only voluntary but I love what it says without verbally saying anything.

Interesting. So what are you thoughts on Kittle not showing up? Suddenly it matters, right?

Brock's such a good dude man. We couldn't have gotten luckier. I hope someone shows him that Chris Simms "no one thinks Brock Purdy is a top 10 qb" headline from today too. Lol

Any threat of holding out got immediately extinguished the moment Kyle got Mac

lol no...it never existed because that's not the type of guy Brock is.

What I don't like about this: so what type of guy is George Kittle?

These moves are about business, it's not personal. So why catagorize our players as good guys or bad guys based on business decisions?

The type of guy who hasn't shown up for voluntary minicamp in a couple of years now.

George already has a clear identity and role on the squad. Brock understands as the QB what he needs to do.
Is McCorkle there. That's more telling.

do you see this everybody? are ppl having their reading glasses on today . this is exactly as i have been saying.

Hoodie "gifted" Jimmy ?
Jimmys career was destroyed by injuries ?

Sounds like a rewrite of history. Jimmy was dealt for pretty good draft capital for an unproven qb, then was signed to a rich (at the time) contract for a starting qb who has started than a full season of games. And blaming injury for Jimmys career being what it is, is just a convenient copout/scapegoat. Jimmy was always a mid qb. You could see the difference between Jimmy and Brock within five games of Brock starting.
Brock is going to get the biggest raise in NFL history. Maybe the biggest ever in any sport. If he gets $50 mil per year that's about a 5000% increase. Most QBs and other players that make the big bucks after their rookie deal werte high draft picks. Brock being picked last was making less than any other QB.

It's also voluntary - so we don't know if he will hold out for mandatory sessions yet. But I agree with what you said about kittle - he plays a different role leadership wise and already has an established identity. I hope he doesn't hold out though.

it just speaks volumes that Brock is there when everyone would completely understand if he wasn't - that shows that he puts the team first to everyone around him. Sets a tone.

"I'm not the kind of guy that wants to have any kind of drama associated with anything," Purdy said in January. "I'm here for this organization, for my teammates in the locker room, and I want to be very professional about it."

Your math is off but it will be a really nice bump for sure lol

Yeah, this year he has a 5.3M cap hit. His point is valid that it's a massive pay raise that's well deserved but not quite 5000% hahaha I'll take that though

Not to me I could careless if any of these dudes show up for off season work. Now TC is a different story
Brock showing up today is clearly self preservation. He does not want to lose his job to Mac or be traded. He's shown so far he is an inconsistent QB and has a lot to prove this year.
