We're signing him to an extension at the absolute worst time. We just got rid of everyone lol

Gives him a chance to prove his worth I guess. Hopefully there is an out if he struggles without a stacked roster

SStafford is declining on the way out and is in the same ballpark as Brock. At least he was last season.

Stafford in his prime was a better QB than Purdy.

It was just a simple comparison. Right now, based on age and the career ahead, I take Purdy.

This goes without saying tho? lol

We'll see if this gets a couple of our adamant Super-fans here to chill a little...

Who's going to block for him. We won't have much left once he gets his $$$.

You guys are trippin. Lol the off season has just started. Let's see how the team looks in May - many moves will be made.

nothing sexy has happened but that's just part of it. You can't go ham every off season in free agency.

Brocks cap hit this year will be like $15M, IMO.

He's a guy you put on a built team not a Josh Allen or Patrick type that you build around. Last season was a good example of what he is if he's not surrounded but elite talent. Good QB but far from elite.

Darnold had a fantastic season until the two most important games of the season and s**t his pants.

True, but you are acting like Brock is a super bowl winning QB.

Darnold was better last season, by a good amount.

and Purdy was better the two seasons prior and won big games

Listening to the Vikings play by play guy today on KNBR, He was pretty much celebrating that Darnold is gone

Kirk Cousins nearly did the same thing in Minn

Darnold last season was comparable to the season Purdy had the season before last. They are pretty comparable. If we are going off last season, Purdy should probably be paid like Darnold. If we are going off his 1st season and a half, then he was a top 5ish guy.

I know we have to pay him, I'm not sure he is ever going to have a season like he did in his 2nd year again. The offense losing key players and aging won't help either.

I think that all depends on GTD money and right now QB's are raking it in.

He shouldn't struggle cause he's the real deal right?

I am acting like Brock has played 1.5 seasons of fantastic football, 1 season of slightly above average football (all things considered), led us to two NFCCGs in 3 years, and left the field in the Superbowl with a lead three times in the 4th quarter/overtime.

And I am acting like Sam Darnold has had 4+ years of inept quarterbacking, and one fantastic season that ended with him looking like he did in the aforementioned years of inept QBing.

Hope that clears it up for you.

If the roles were reversed, and Purdy was drafted to the Jets team, I don't think he does much better.

Darnold went to a good coaching situation and got better. Something Purdy started with since day 1.

Take off your Homer glasses sometimes. It is easy to see if you want to.
