I actually agree that the Darnold contract is good news for us—BUT Purdy is still getting at least $50M a year.

How about giving Purdy a Mohomes type of contract? 10 years $500 million?

You do realize $50M APY for a QB in 2030 is going to be peanuts, right?

If we sign Purdy to a 10-year $500M deal right now, it'll be the best deal in the league by the time we're halfway through. Possibly earlier.

Purdy's agent would never do it, though. He's going to want that $250M now and then another $400M in 2030.

To be fair it did. I guess I'm just laughing with you instead of at you
I still think Purdy lands between 50-53m. The Allen contract helped I think as does Darnold but neither of them got their teams to a Super Bowl and came within one missed block of winning it all (that's what Purdy's agent will say let's be real). So I think at the very least they'll want to get paid as much as Tua...53m per.

My guess:
5 years
$265m
$200m guaranteed

Probably team friendly regarding the elbow.

Purdy's agent would never do it, though. He's going to wait that $250M now and then another $400M in 2030.

You'd have to be pretty crazy to think Purdy is such a sure thing that we'd want to commit to him for the better part of a decade at that cost.

Purdy isn't getting 250 million now. That's a pipe dream for him.

How many years would you give Purdy? 5-6?

Agreed.

These Josh Allen ($55M after winning MVP) and Sam Darnold ($37M after a 102.5 passer rating season) contracts are good news for us—not bad news. If Josh Allen had reset the market by topping Dak or Darnold had gotten $45M THEN we'd be in trouble. But so far we're okay IMO. We still have a lot of leverage for ~$50M.

One of the few posts that make sense

I want an out after 2-3 years max in any deal. The fluff doesn't matter.

Umm… he's absolutely going to get 250M now. 5 years at $50M a year already gets you there.
