if I was negotiating the Purdy deal, I would not try and low ball him, but would work towards getting to a structure that both sides can live with but both also concede on some points. The problem with the Aiyuk, Deebo, and Bosa deals is we gave them everything they wanted. For Bosa, I was fine with it. The others I was not. The Purdy deal needs to be a true compromise. If both sides walk away a little unhappy, then it's the right deal.
I'd give him 30mil per, take it or leave it

Compare that to the $35- $40 million Geno Smith will get from the Raiders, and you will see how silly $30mil sounds.

I'm still in for a 10 year $600m extension. In 2 years, $60m will be top 10 money. In 4 years, it'll barely be top 15. Play some number games so that the next year or two don't hit hard.

Note, I didn't say anything about guarantees...

I really don't see the need to get a long term deal done this offseason. Playing out this year and franchising him the next two isn't the worst idea. If he plays well enough to make us look bad for not extending him earlier, that's a good problem.
Purdy doesn't seem like the type of guy whose gonna holdout because of the lack of an extension.

One concern I have with the team slow rolling this is you are at risk to a Darnold and new Geno deal pricing you out.
If Darnold gets 50+ and Geno gets 40+ you are now looking in the range of 55+ because Purdy is better than both of those guys.
