Even when he showed flaws in his game (ball placement, a little late on throws), they're not the worst problems. Shanahan now has a better idea of what Purdy isn't so great at and can better protect him with his playcalling. In the long run, Purdy can improve his ball placement and timing.

I'm getting more and more excited about his long-term future. I think the question is, how much more can he grow?

Are you not entertained?

No because he threw a pick and "good" qbs don't that apparently

Its fine if purdy throws a pick every 5 -6 quarters. He finds air touchdowns every 2 quarters.

I think shanny hates it though. He's so used to festivals of field goals he cant imagine the luxury of being allowed to endi drives without points and still win.

When jimmy got hurt he hadn't turned the ball over in....20 quarters, i want to say?

I think he can if he's this good as a rookie. He can improve more.

He would have won it on the bootleg to Kittle who had beaten his defender but got cracked so hard that luckily the ball traveled far enough for Aiyuk to catch it underneath.

2 throws that he'll get better at and they are the fade to Jennings that should have been a TD and missed both Kroft coming across and McCloud was also wide open in the corner of the end on the same play. The interception to Kittle I feel that the defender out muscled Kittle.

Kid is showing a lot though! A lot.

The cool thing is that he seems to be someone who learns and adapts really fast - so I don't really have a problem with him taking some tough throws, because he seems to do it safely. There is a way to mitigate risk in deep balls or tight window throws, he seems to do that.

i love the fact that he is so aggressive - like if we have to punt, I feel like he's pissed off. I feel like our previous QBs would sit more in the pocket and just take what the defense gives them, Brock attacks the defenses and goes for tight window throws when he sees fit. That's just more my personal preference.
Yeah I like the cockiness or swag whatever it's called which is another great intangible in a QB.

This one I thought George should've had. Purdy threaded and it was there for George, hit him in the chest.

Shanny hates touchdowns? Man the ridiculous crap you gotta come up with to justify being so amazingly wrong.

I think the totality of the circumstances have to be considered here. The 2' drive was impressive, but it was saved by Aiyuk's catch of a tipped 50/50 ball that Purdy threw. The Raiders do not have a good defense, and they were able to make it tough on him at times. Yardage is a misleading thing for this team since so many of Purdy's long 'completions' are going to be driven by YAC- out of his control.

I don't think anyone who really watched this game could honestly say Purdy was 'good', but he was good enough.

Define "good."
I thought he was good. Not perfect or outstanding, mind you, but felt he had a good game.

I had the exact same question after reading that post. Does "good" equate to slightly above average? If so, I'd say he was easily "good."

Purdy has been so good for us that Sunday's performance was just meh lol. We can win the Super Bowl if he plays like that the rest of the way.

what a hilarious take by brodie. Shanny was going for the home run TD to end the game in the play that Purdy's pass was batted up.

Missing a whole lot of Deebo to boot

Some of you are absof***nlutely ridiculous. A lot of you "Zoners" who feel that Joe was and is the best QB to have ever stepped on the gridiron, do you ever remember Joe throwing a pick? It's a part of football!!! Just because that happens, it doesn't necessarily mean that the QB made a bad play, it means there were circumstances during the play where the DB may have made a better play than either the QB, WR, or both 😎
I can't tell you guys how much yesterday meant to me:). It was just so amazing. When I first entered Allegiant, my eyes got a bit teary as it's the first time I ever seen a pro football stadium to see my favorite team. Memories to be made. I was early, it was mostly empty. And I was like, in a couple of hours, this place is going to be packed. I would say there was like 65-70% or so 9er fans there. So much red, you would think it was Levi's lol. Somehow, I ended up getting great tickets for a decent price. I saw all the players come out of the tunnel. I was right above it. It was great. We saw them warming up & dang to see how ripped Bosa is upclose wow. He is a beast LOL. I think I am gunna call him Nick "Megatron" Bosa now haha. It was like seeing olympians. The athletism is kinda mind blowing lol. The game was intense LOL. What a game to be my first right? Against a rivalry and we win in OT? Then I go to a casino where there were tons of Niner fans hanging out, met up with a group of ppl & celebrated with them the whole evening. I randomly was hugging Niner fans lol. And while celebrating with the group I was in, we cross paths with Brock's sister. I didn't know who she was at first lol then a person in the group said she was his sister lol. And she was so down to earth & nice. Chatted with us for a bit. The Purdy family just seems to be a very good people. Not prideful or anything..just genuine and humble really. Oh and I had an extra not cool Raiders fan right behind me during the game. He was actually flipping off players as they were coming in and out of the tunnel. It was just so disrespectful. I would never flip off a player of any team. Lol. That's just odd and rude behavior. But he sure got quiet at the end lol. It was the game of all games for me. This was so incredibly awesome. I met so many nice ppl wow. So cool:).

It's kind of funny though.. If you think about it. His worst start so far is one where, although he missed several guys and threw a pick, he still made some huge precision throws, scrambled out of pressure numerous times (he was pressured a lot), brought the team back from behind, drove the team down with just a minute left for a game winning field goal attempt, and ultimately won in a shootout where we almost put up 40 points -- something we rarely did these past few years.

And he's a seventh round rookie? Dang.

Is this a guy you can figure out? It seems like so far, the best you can do is hope to get pressure, which affects any QB, or bat balls down. He just seems to deliver in every other facet so far.

Pocket elusiveness/mobility
Quick release
Cool under defensive pressure
Calm in key situations
Adequate arm
Strong football IQ
Trusts his reads
Generally makes good decisions
Goes for the big play when available
Natural leader
Physically and mentally tough
Doesn't snowball after a mistake
High character player & humble

I have been cautiously optimistic and I'm still trying to keep some sense of that, although it's getting harder and harder to ignore the fact that the kid is checking off virtually every box there is for a franchise quarterback.

Next steps would be to be big time in big time games -- the playoffs.

1) How much of it do you equate to the super-offense he has with CMac here and Kittle now healthy? Jimmy looked pretty darn good in this CMac-infused offense as well,...the best he ever has, and that's without a training camp. So this obviously is an open-ended question. And the more important question @ hand with a guy like Purdy is....

2) As teams get more used to his game, is he already relatively close to his peak? Or does he have alot more room for growth?

youre always trying to attribute Purdy's success to others. lol. while Jimmy did look good, Purdy has elevated the offense by about 10 pts per game against better defenses.

Stop concerning yourself about what I'm personally doing when the entire post was about the potential of a rookie with a handful of starts. 49ers.

The potential of a rookie to improve is clearly a legit question.

Explain why you feel Purdy wouldn't improve?
Does that sound reasonable that Purdy won't improve and if it does sound reasonable, then it is just as reasonable that Lance will not improve.
Why is it possible Lance will improve but Purdy won't since you are the one that just stated;
"The potential of a rookie to improve is clearly a legit question."

You and Ring need to quit baiting people if you don't want to get called out for it.

And Mitchell, even if Mitchell is only good for 1-2 games before getting injured again.

WTF??? How did you come up with such lunacy? I asked a question and never suggested he can't improve.

Some guy's ceilings are higher than others. But please don't make up quotes that were never said or even suggested.
