this is a golden opportunity for brock

I just don't know what his limitations are? There are things he def needs to do better at and get more consistent at, but I havent seen anything that he is "bad" at.
im not coming at you, it's an honest question.
I'm more and more impressed with Brock. He may not have the measurables, but he's playing some pretty smart football.

Jimmy's 1.5 TDs per start this year. 1.33 last year, 1.69 in 2019, 1.4 in 2017, etc.
It ok to compliment one player without tearing down an other player.

Number comparisons isin't tearing down anyone. They're great to look into as they compile.
1. Your position is well-known.
2. Multiple times during the game the announcers noted Purdy's performance, ie, 2 TDs in each game he has played as a first in 49er lore. It wasn't on average. It was 2/game specifically. You changed the setting to introduce your anti-JG narrative.

In effect, it became a troll for any Garoppolo supporter.

This. Thank you, dj43.

I'm so impressed by his pocket awareness. It's one of those intangibles you either have or you don't. He's got great short area quickness and seems to make plays when scrambling. Today he maybe was a little quick to exit the pocket a time or two, but generally speaking he's been the best 9er QB since Garcia in pocket awareness and the ability to escape and make a play. That's pretty incredible for a rookie seventh rounder.

His escapability is going to result in a big play at some point. Being able to avoid a free rusher makes near sacks into a mere incompletion.

Nice Job Lynch. Still could of used someone like McKinley at Safety or Jobe to compete at the CB position. Career practice squad player with NO potential.

Its the last pick of the draft.

Honestly I think Purdy has a better chance to stick as an NFL backup QB than McKinley has to stick on an NFL roster in any capacity. Dude's too small to play in the box in the NFL and too slow to play single high. If he's going to make it, he has to make it on special teams.

CJ Beathard in the making nothing special 🥱

My position? The thread where a couple guys keep repeating their position ad nauseum with no interest in what's going on is the Lance thread. They have a green light to just keep going. I mean he hasn't even really played yet, and there are anti-narratives for him, lol. No numbers, no metrics examined, no discussion of the game.

The post you quoted above was the exact opposite, however, with no opinion given. I find it interesting that game in, game out, Brock consistently thrown for 2 TDs per game. Limited data (5 consecutive games), but for an extended period, our previous QB hasn't been able to attain such a metric.

I find the consistency extremely interesting, especially for a rook. That's why I took the time to examine game logs and see what's what. After calculating by hand, I shared them here.

Now you can see that as pro-Brock, anti-Jimmy, or hey, who cares and we can just invite actual football discussion for a change?

If anything, you should invite it and disregard what camps posters were previously in or not in. JMO.

I'm not there all the way with Purdy yet. He showed a little more today. I'll be there totally if he takes us to the Super Bowl.
It was funny to keep hearing about the Raiders QB first start when Brock is a Mr. Irrelevant pick and a true rookie. Never even been in a NFL training camp until this year!

Although I agree with your statement, I don't think this is a good example of one tearing down another player.

Agree with Afrikan. Noting how well Brock is doing in one aspect of QBing in relation to how Jimmy did isn't "tearing another player (Jimmy) down."

The fact that anyone interprets it that way is the issue, not the post.

lol.. they tried their hardest.. refs too, to make the Raiders the big story this game
I liked Purdy's ability to stay calm and collected in crunch time. It's something he hasn't had the opportunity to showcase yet, and he definitely passed the test.

On the flipside, he had a bunch of things today that I did not like. He predetermined a lot of throws today, and subsequently missed bigger plays. He was also very inaccurate on multiple deep shots, which we haven't really seen. He also moved to his 2nd and 3rd reads just as his previous read was breaking wide open.

Every one of those complaints are things Jimmy did regularly and Brock did today. While today was the first time I had any of those issues with Brock, I can only hope it was a one off thing and not something we have to worry about moving forward.

Overall, happy with the win and Brock's play in crunch time. But a lot of the game I was getting Jimmy vibes, and that's not a good thing.

I remember when Harbaugh refused to comment on any two players in the same breath for this reason.

The statement as it stands, does look like that. If he had added Lance to the equation or left Jimmy out of it, I'd see it differently.

I agree with a lot of what is said here, but your last statement really weakens your credibility on your previous post. ;)

This is the first game where I feel like I can actually criticize his play, although I do think he played a really good game overall.

it was sort of relieving to see Brock struggle or the team struggle, and the teams response, because I think all of us wanted to see him under pressure to get an idea of what we have. I just hated seeing the defense struggle so much.

kudos to Stidham though. Hell of a first start

Today's adversity was a god send. Experience like that is essential for the run we are about to make. Truly hope it was just an off game for our defense. If Josh McDaniels cracked the code to beat us I'll puke.
