But don't compare Purdy to Tom..just expect results like Tom or even better than Tom lol

The problem here...is you. The post you quoted was basically spot on.

YOU decided to insert Brady into the discussion, and then try and flip it to some notion that even someone of that level didn't deliver 100% of the time. No s**t. The fact of the matter is, Purdy was put into a position not once, but twice lead a team to TD (the last being probably the game winner) and both end in interceptions. The all time elite QB's can, and have overcome injuries, bad coaching, etc. on many, many occasions. That's because....they are all time elite players.

The fact is, you have FAR and away more trust in a guy like prime Brady, given what Purdy had on Monday night, to deliver the goods late in that game. People in general need to stop dropping names like 'Montana/Brady/Brees' into any conversation with regards to Brock Purdy. Every 49er fan hopes he can rise to that level, but he's nowhere close to that. Dropping 40 points on the Cowboys in a blowout, or taking out trash teams like the Giants and Cardinals didn't make Joe Montana, Joe Montana. He's off to a great start in his career. I like what I see overall in Purdy, and the arrow is still up. These last 2 weeks could be the best thing that ever happened to him professionally. Now he's got another prime time game to reverse narratives and give the Niners a solid record heading into the bye.
Lol ok

And btw Brock Brees will do fine haha
All this stuff is interlocked....and effects other parts of the team.

Can't run the ball, loose on time of possession, let's the defense get tired, tired defense let's other teams score, other team keeps scoring it leads to more passing with out the aid of play action, and puts a ton of pressure on the QB to play mistake free ball since one Turn over can often loose the game.

No one should be shocked that a young QB struggled with a make shift line, late in the game when the offense had to be one dimensional.

Brock is a gambler, and aggressive by nature. We all know how often he has the ball out before the WR even makes a cut, that is going to lead to chaos and mistakes from time to time....especially throwing to WRs he does not have a ton of timing with.

Brock will be fine, the team needs to get him a grade A polished rout runner as a second security blanket but the dude will be fine.

Side note, I love Brock and Shanny....but dude....when the chips are on the table.....they need to go with their best stuff. I know if they want to move the ball around, but they can't be trying to force the ball to Kittle or Deebo or whomever. We have seen a few forced balls this season, and I don't know if that is Kyle or Brock...but whomever it is they need to take the easy stuff when the defense is giving you easy stuff.

Hell, most people don't even know that in the '81 NFCCG, Montana threw three INT's! He was pretty bad in that game, until the end of course. I see many similarities with Kyle/Purdy and the group as a whole. We have something special, just need to keep working and grinding. A fan base with some faith and heart would certainly help.

Can we stop with the Montana comparisons? Brock hasn't won big like Joe yet.

There are similarities, as well as differences. Do you understand the difference between a comparison and an equivalence?

So what's the expectation here? Is it elite QB? Or is it better than average? A better than average QB looks really good part of the game and then fails to deliver twice when it matters. An elite QB wins the game.

Those two picks, what were they? That wasn't because of arm strength, that's for sure, so there's at least that. But we need more from him if we want six. Call me a hater all you want, we are NOT winning the Super Bowl if Brock doesn't play better than he's played the last two games.

Brock is a second year guy. He has a lot to learn still. He's already pretty good now, and I have faith he will become a better QB over time. But when the team is sucking ass, that's when elite QBs win the game for their team. That's what we need. We're not the only team with a talented roster. The ones who also have elite QB play are the ones who will be standing at the end.

Bottom line: we need Brock to play better, this year. Not in two years. We need him NOW. Because "pretty good" is not going to get us six.

That clip 😂

also kinda disagree with it not having anything to do with arm strength. That last INT was a floater, no zip at all. Bad read inaccurate whatever. Is what it is, happens to young QBs.

I got faith he will learn from the mistakes and improve.

IIRC, he got hit as he threw it. The protection was not great. That's a huge factor when you're trying to hit big chunk plays downfield in situations where the defense knows that's what you're going to do.

If you don't have great protection, You're not getting those deep shot plays unless you get the QB outside the pocket on a bootleg or something. That's the great mobile QBs do to make stuff happen (i.e. Mahomes). The great non-mobile QBs often do rely on having great protection. When they don't the struggle just like Purdy did.

Have been doing 20hrs of OT on top of it PLUS have a baby girl due in a month, so we've been preparing for that…if you think I'm lying about that. Well Sir get a life, this s**t isn't that serious.

I've actually posted in the game day thread throughout the whole time and even talked about being "all in" with Brock in this very thread after the Dallas game. I've posted clips in here all the same….none of you gave a s**t about that I guess.

what exactly am I posting that so offensive in here? Explain.

Congrats! Is that two girls now? I have three and we just finished a 6 month home remodel while I slept in one room with three beds stuffed in it. It was all five of us and a girl cat who all demanded to sleep next to dad.....AND I jumped over to a new job that is intense while this was all going on..... You get no sympathy from me sucka!!!
I told them I am getting a male dog and leaving his balls intact!

I was literally unpacking stuff and organizing while watching the game last night. It's insane. I have about three months house work ahead of me still. It is funny how life's experiences teach you. I love the 49ers, but I will never lose sleep over them losing like when I was younger because its just a game and the majority of players are all happy regardless, but that's a topic for a different thread.

Good posts by both of you. My 5 year old daughter has dance on Monday afternoons, and I was going to keep her home so that I didn't miss any of the game. Then it hit me; when I'm old and she's grown up, I won't wish that I watched more Niners games. I'll wish I could take her to dance one more time. So I took her to dance. Turned my phone off and just watched it on DVR when I got home, caught up by halftime. Yes I was frustrated about the game, defense was getting abused like cheap hookers, and Purdy didn't come through when he had the chance. But we have a damn good team, with guys who are playing as hard as they can. We have a talented young QB with all of the traits a QB needs to be a star. Games and losses like this build character and the team will be better for it. WE ARE OKAY.

People really need to chill out. Go for a walk outside and watch the sunset or something. Good lord lol.

100%.

Now I'm not saying don't come on here and vent, as that is the point of a fan forum, but keep it real!

I remember after we lost in 19 I was upset and frustrated etc as one would expect. Then I heard the team still partied after the loss! I said you know what... f this. From that moment on I really learned to not get so emotional about it and have become even more cynical tbh lol. The game is different today with the way these kids get paid. For most of them the contract is the real prize, not the Lombardi.
Like what was said on 94.7 yesterday, If there is one thing every niners fan should know by now, the shannahans have zero patience with the QB position. If Purdy stinks it up against the bengles, you know shannahan would move on to Darnold. And the worst thing happened monday night. The 49er defense could have put the Cousins to the 49ers in the offseason narrative to bed permanently and they didn't. Cousins balled out in front of the guy who has loved him forever. I wonder what the odds are that cousins ends up with the 49ers now?

This one? He didn't get hit at all

He didn't get on this until he threw it…he had pressure coming in, but that's the life of a QB. Kirk had plays with dudes coming in on him and made the play.

even Brock said that was a bad ball. Sucks because overall he was having a good game besides the two back breaking INTs

Only way Sam is coming in is if Brock is hurt.

Or we take the losing streak to 4 by losing to the bangles and the jags.

Cmon, after what we've seen the last 7 years, do people really think Shannahan is above moving off of purdy even if he is still healthy?

I think this is an unrealistic take. Unless Purdy plays terrible for many weeks he is not being benched. FWIW the Vikings game was not even horrific. He had two bad throws, and the rest was fairly great imo. He needs to play much worse to even think about that. Lets not forget how young he still is while coming off a major injury.

The chicken little effect is the best part of the zone though.
