Because I hold guys like Brees/Montana/Brady and whomever else they try comping him to in very very high regard. I'm not tossing that stuff around off of 170 passing attempts.

so yes while they would be amazing (and could be true down the road), I'm not holding my breath that he's as good as some of the best QBs of all time. Not sure why that's so taboo of me to think like that?

NY is right, the odds of anyone being as good as those guys are slim to none. I just disagree that there is an issue with making certain comps when it comes to aspects of the players.

I hope Brock just becomes awesome in his own right and is on par with those guys eventually.

agreed i disagree with NY a lot on the QB situation but its unfair and stupid to compare him to HOF QBs

Very very very understandable degree of cautious optimism.

Alex Smith (2011+), Colin Kaepernick, Jimmy Garoppolo, Trey Lance (?)......never quite lived up to the hype. Jeff Garcia I think was probably accurately rated as a guy you could win with, but back then our team was more lacking than let's say he was lacking (for championship level pedigree).

Hell, some hardcore people may even say Steve Young pre 1995....we all knew he was the s**t by mid/end of '92, franchise in that way, but beating Dallas was gonna need near Montana level ability.

But yeah, with Purdy, all 49er fans should have a guarded optimism..........it probably will take some real franchise QB level eye test or winning a super bowl for us to declare him The One, as it should.

It's also unfair and silly imo, to say things like he will turn to a pumpkin or his silly TD percent from last year will come down, so he will regress and so forth. He's QB1, so can he play on the level of a QB1, think JG. We did well with JG so if he's on that level, he's probably starter for a while, and we hope for better, so we have an elite QB. All about stacking wins, getting to the SB, he was doing it last season.. just got hurt at a bad time is all.

Yup only Fast strong armed QBs are allowed to be compared to the best. The weak armed pocket passers are only allowed to be compared to colt McCoys and Nick Mullens

Brock better not regress, otherwise Trey will take his job. Nice thing about the situation is Trey also has to catch up to Brock. Both look good so far. I hope to see both play before the end of Preseason. I hope Trey looks so good in the Raider game, all the Brock fans go ---> (me included )

I feel like Brock and Trey both have pretty high floors honestly.

I think Brock's ceiling is a Brees with some Mahomes playmaking ability. Floor is prob Jimmy G.

Personally, and this is just my gut feeling, when Lance gets his chance to develop I think his ceiling could be Allen or Hurts. Floor I think falls somewhere between a Tannehill and Dak. Again, just my opinion.

You got me at floor is Dak Prescott

I said between Tannehill and Dak. Maybe if I used a Madden Rating it would make more sense haha.

Let's say Tannehill is a 67 and Dak is 82, I could see Trey's floor being somewhere between that 71-78 range.
