Never said they didn't like Darnold. But actions speak louder than words. Correct me if I am wrong but I think Trey has started every practice with the 1's when Brock has been on a rest day and has gotten more 1st team reps than Darnold overall.

All I know is if Purdy doesn't play well its going to get interesting. Also for a lot of this fan base if Purdy doesn't look nearly as good as last year (what are the odds of that) its still going to get noisy lol

He looked fantastic though, but my rational mind still says expect a regression to to average compared to what we saw since he is no longer a surprise and opponents have tape on him.

They had tape on him last year, the Seahawks even got to go at him in the playoffs after having plenty of tape on him. Bill Belichick says by the third or fourth game there's plenty of tape to get a feel for what someone can and can't do. Most qbs improve year two, not regress. Why would you think he would get worse after having time to learn more of the offense? That seems unlikely.

For one he's coming off a major injury. I hope I'm wrong but it'll be hard to top what he's already done. That's how I see it.

They have split reps whether that's on days it's the second team reps, or days when Purdy was out. Yeah, if Lance has more reps - it's only a couple. Last time I saw it, it was almost identical. They just do it differently each day. Some days Lance has more and some days darnold has it more but it's almost a split.

also, throwing plays aren't the only reps. They do run plays too. So they get more reps than just pass plays.

also, it's only a week into camp. lol they said they would alternate them. So it's possible darnold takes the first reps on first team next practice - you have to let this stuff play out. You can't take a week of the first practices as end all be all. Kyle has made it clear he is evening it out over time.

Yes. If they like him as much as you say they do, why didn't he sign a multi year deal? That question does not imply that they don't like Darnold. It just implies that they don't like Darnold as much as you think they do. You also didn't even address my statement that Trey has started every practice with the 1's when Brock has been out. You can even see it on days when Brock is practicing. Brock is 1 and Trey 2 in team drills. Overlook all the evidence that I am providing you but the answer is still staring you in the face.

Spending a year with Kyle isn't the worst idea in the world when there are several teams out there running the same system that may be looking for starters next year.

Also, I think the guy needed a break from the pressure. A chance to focus on how to be a pro without the rest of the noise. His challenges have been mental.

100% this. It's not in Sam's interest to sign a multi year deal. I think there was general surprise at how cheap Darnold signed for.

I already covered reasons why Darnold would want to sign a multi year deal. You can speculate reasons for why he wouldn't. But Darnold is battling for the #2 spot but it looks like Trey is a head of him atm, even if it is only by a narrow margin.

Kyle said he had other options for more money. Another poster just said that he probably needed a break from the pressure, which I believe is probably a factor.

he can come here and just focus on his craft with a top notch organization, coaching, and talent. It's a great way to reboot and recalibrate - especially when he's only 25

there are tons of reports that Lance is behind him, idk if they're true, but darnold has had a really good camp so far. Only one off day. Many days where he's reportedly looking better than Trey.

idk who's ahead and it doesn't matter a week in, but to assume that is baseless.

Jesus man, I clearly addressed your multi year question. You have no actual idea if they offered one or not, nor do you have insight into Darnold's interests beyond interpreting his actions. Read back through the posts. I also addressed your reps question twice already.

Do you all just skim through my posts? Its not just the number of 1st team reps. Who is taking the first snap at practice every time Brock is on a rest day? Who is the #2 in position drills when Brock is at practice? In all the videos I have seen and all reports I have read, Trey has been a head of Darnold.
