This coaching staff knows what they're doing. They'd "better" do whatever they feel is best.
Until we go to flag football, guys all over the league will continue to get injured.
It's unfortunately just part of the game :/ just have to hope it's injuries they can play through. Like Brock's ribs injury. I bet bosa and Trent are super banged up at the end too. It's just too violent of a support
"And he got that time going into his second year, and then he got hurt. Well, you look back to that training camp ... I really loved how our seventh-round draft pick (Brock Purdy) was playing. That didn't mean I was going to give him the reps Trey [deserved]."
The 49ers felt Lance would grow into a solid quarterback as last season progressed. He never got that opportunity, though, and Purdy, the last overall pick in the draft, showed that he belonged in the NFL.
"What he did week in and week out, each week, by the end, it wasn't a tough decision because he had all the film there," Shanahan said.
Purdy showed the coaches enough last season to earn the starting job this season. And last year's success wasn't just because he had a good team around him.
"They gave our team a lot of credit, but I know how good he played," Shanahan said. "And I think anybody who really sits and watches it, whether it's our teammates, whether our coaches, [the belief in Purdy] was strong in the season, but it got stronger in the offseason. It's because what he put on tape was real, and that's what makes it easy, the situation we're in."
Shanahan added, "Injuries happen. And when injuries happen, you don't really lose your job because of an injury, but you give opportunities to someone else. And this guy, who got his opportunity, came in and did stuff on film for me, for John, for all our players, that was as good as we've seen here. And it's going to be real hard to beat out."
I hope he's a stud like last year. Is teams adapting a real thing? We will see. I recorded a few games with Brock and there were a few throws batted down. I hope not an issue this season and where Treys size is appreciated.
But I can't deal with the QB circus anymore. One QB the entire season please.

Brock was thrown into the fire last year and really had to learn how to operate the offense and skill players around him on the fly, which he did a great job of, but now he has time to work the team and get in sync. He has time to review his film and work on his weak spots. He has time to really sink into the playbook and perfect plays/situations..
he was making errors in the first half of games and by halftime he was correcting them - that's impressive. He's a fast learner and everything he does, is just good qb play. Not gimmick stuff - so I'm confident he will be fine.
but there is always the possibility I'm wrong, I'm just not worried - I think Kyle and Brock are going to really be in sync and design some awesome plays and work on a lot of situations during camp that he didn't have the luxury of last season.

Lance had the same issue with batted balls, and he's 6'4.
here's a video discussing
Height is not a factor. There were articles just last season on why Trey Lance (6'4") was having more balls batted down than Jimmy G (6'2") … and there's this video. Lots of reasons why balls are batted. It's not height. pic.twitter.com/ssflm1I7iP

Brock is gonna play 10 on 11 football as good as anyone in this league aside from Mahomes Josh Allen and Joe Burrows and especially with the weapons we wilL provide him
Thing is after watching that Super Bowl over and over again I witnessed two QBs in Mahomes and Hurts that we've got to beat and they both rendered those Super Bowl defenses useless.
Hurts more so than Mahomes is about 11 on 11 and over the course of a game he'll keep knocking until he breaks down the door. We need to be able to sustain our defense through four quarters and Brock is going to have to grow substantially so we can actually beat these guys.
If Brock can just give us a few key Russell Wilson scrambles from time to time and resemble Brees from te pocket we will have a chance with this defense and the offensive talent around him
We have 17 weeks to ready ourselves and hopefully we've positioned ourselves atop the NFCW and the NFC
•Brock Purdy
Insane recovery. Cleared without restrictions at 4 months 15 days out from UCL repair. Likely on a load management regimen, but expect him to be fully ready and starter for Wk1 of the season. He's well ahead of schedule. Low concern at current trajectory
He was always going to be ready by training camp. Kyle just likes to make things seem dramatic.
Yeah, when medical professionals come out and say he had an "insane recovery" they are just covering for Kyle being cryptic about Brock's timetable.
Nothing miraculous about his recovery. Pretty much what was expected except that Kyle just made a drama out of it. I just feel bad for the folks around here that thought Trey was actually going to get the chance to redeem himself….

Crying in a corner with Trey.
FWIW, I thought Trey Lance would get the start. I didn't think Brock would recover that fast. I thought the signing of Darnold assured me Brock was gonna be out at least two to three weeks.

I felt like You could tell by some of the responses, and the lack of posting in certain threads, that quite a few people were disappointed by the news.
not that they were bummed about Brock, but were disappointed because they really expected Lance to get essentially all of training camp to show out while Brock was supposed to be out - expecting him to grow a lot and giving him a chance to start.
Since Brock will most likely be on a "pitch count" for only the first 2 weeks of camp, and Lance will split the first team reps with Darnold, now it looks like he will only get 2 days with the ones or so.
i get it, when you invest a lot time/energy into believing someone is/will be a stud - stuff like this can be disheartening. I'm not judging or poking fun at anyone - I just felt like I noticed that yesterday in here.

Yeah I think batted balls have more to do with the defense knowing when you are going to be throwing it and where because you are telegraphing your throws.
I don't recall Russell Wilson having a ton of batted balls and he is really short for a QB.

Brock got to go out there with zero expectations. He was the last pick in the draft. His plan was to just make the final roster. He also had more experience playing QB then a s**t ton of rookies that come into the league.
I mean he's basically missing out on a full off season to get better as a QB. I think there was more errors throughout games that you're unwilling to accept.
I don't expect the same 7.3TD% and I do expect the INTs to go up a little.
We will see, overall I'm not as confident as you are with him maintaining that play. Obviously I would love that!
