Brocky Balboa doesn't need to take a single preseason snap and he will be just fine... he came off the bench in the Miami gave with zero NFL snaps under his belt and we all know the rest of the story... color me not worried about lack of preseason snaps and his readiness as the week 1 starter

I am not sure. I mean on the MIA game, no NFL snaps, but he got preseason work, worked all summer, worked all season, etc. To go from no team activity, for maybe 6.5 months, to maybe 2-3 weeks of cramming it in, then at Steelers. Good luck. This would probably be his biggest accomplishment yet.

Just based off of everything we know right now, he will participating in team activities for weeks, at min, before the first game.

may he have a little rust? Sure, it's possible, but I wouldn't stress too much over it because he's been around the guys. He's been getting coached up, he's working with coaches and all that, studying film.
What we are used to seeing with serious injuries is when they miss everything and can't really train cause they're rehabbing an ACL or so - away from the team.

IMO, I'm not overly concerned about it. This rehab has gone as well as possible, so far. He may be participating in team activities in all of camp. We don't know yet.

id bet that Brock is participating in team activities as early as week 2-3 of training camp. Possibly earlier. It isn't like he will be 100% a week before the season and just get thrown out there.

he will be 2/3 if the way through rehab when camp starts. So his arm will be near full strength.

Rusty in terms of throwing the football? Maybe. Probably even likely. But Purdy isn't exactly just a "thrower of the football," he's a "football player" and has all of the intangibles you want at quarterback. Play recognition, audibles, blocking assignments, adjustments, knowing when a play is dead and to improvise - are all things that he will still excel at and be even better at now that he's had a full off-season to learn the offense inside and out. If he's healthy week 1, he will start. I don't care if he hasn't taken a single pre-season snap.

Him being rusty for the first few games is just par for the course niners under shanahan. The team every season basically looks unready and pathetic for like the first 3-4 games before we even look like a top team. The play calling is questionable at best, there's drops, and they start slow every season.

Honestly it will probably happen again and the media will start throwing hate at purdy when it's just how the niners are.

By week 5 it should be sorted out.

I agree with you and think he will, as well. I was just saying that he will have time to shake off the rust, if any, before the season starts.

i expect him to play well. I'd say the biggest factor will be the mental side, just making sure he's comfortable with getting hit after the injury. He's a tough guy mentally, so it should be fine, but it's still going to be a factor. Nick mullens talked about it.

The cool thing is that Brock has had a handful of people to talk it over with and get ahead of that.

i can't wait for him to be out there again! I love me some Purdy out there doing em dirty!

you're right that we tend to start out slow, which is super annoying and usually cost us home field advantage in the playoffs.

I'm hoping that Brock brings s ton of energy and an emphasis on proving he is the guy, that it gets our guys super juiced and we just go wild. Lol

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Purdy is the cure for what you just described.

Understand the concern but IMO Shanahan and Griese have a system to deal with this. They're not going to play Brock if they're not 100 percent absolutely sure that Brock is 100 percent ready. Again, IMO any setbacks on Brock's injury will delay his start.

The D.A.R.N.O.L.D system.

Hilarious but true I always wonder if we suck or just figuring it out. Denver comes to mind when I'm watching with Raiders fans and we're taking about the toilet bowl for the match-up at the end of the year lol.

I'm actually really curious to see what another off season of Griese does. I thought he did a wonderful job last year between all the QBs and the improvements they showed - jimmy was actually playing off schedule sometimes etc. i personally thought Jimmy played some of his best ball last season.

but I don't think Brock will start if the team isn't 100% sure he is ready, and he shouldn't.

it would be nice to see us get off to a 2019 start! Lol instead of "oh damn, are we going to make the playoffs?"

Lol yeah seriously! We could use a change from a losing record to start off the year and wondering if we are going to make the playoffs all season. Can't wait to see Purdy this season!!
i think NY has mentioned how we seemed much better inside the red zone with Purdy, and I agree, this is part of the explanation. The NFL leader was Daniel Jones at 68% - so I'm sure with a larger sample size, it would of gone down some, but still probably would of fallen within top 8 or so. Jimmy came in at 4th place and he was having a really good red zone year last season.

"Purdy didn't get an opportunity to make 20 throws inside the 10. He only had eight such chances, but he completed all six of them for touchdowns. His 75 percent completion rate would've been the best in the NFL last season:"

In 2019, the team started the season 8-0, and most of those wins were blow outs.

The exception not the rule. Just because we win against pathetic scrub bottom feeding teams does not mean we still don't start slower until we hit our stride.

Maybe purdy will be the cure with his lack of off-season practice he will be free from the shanahan hangover.

Crazy to think better qb play might be the cure to starting slowly.
