So ya never said he's already better than Kirk Cousins?

Plus you tried to say the upgrade from Jimmy to Brock was the same as Beatherd/Hoyer to Jimmy. Factually untrue

I said he was better than Cousins last year and over their careers which is a fact.

How was Jimmy's improvement greater?

Because he took a ragtag group to a much greater height offensively than they were doing previously? That's what the chart clearly showed. #1 in points per possession with that roster.

It's not a fact because a guy being better for 8 games is not comparable to a guy with a decade of play experience. It's apples to elephants

You know those stats are flawed. QBR, which we all know isn't the end all be all like any other stat, at least attempts to isolate for the individual play of the QB.

Jimmy in his time in '17 had a QBR of 82... which is beyond stellar.

Brock's last season was 68 ish. Still very good (and significantly higher than Jimmy's for the season).

And? I'm giving you examples of players who played well early in their career. One at multiple points in his career. Neither are currently anything in the league. same with RG3. I pointed out Mayfield to you a couple times with no reply…a guy who broke the rookie record and on the worst team in football. He's currently on his last leg as a starter.

You think he's already better than Jimmy and Kirk after 7 starts.

who knows maybe he's the best QB of all time based of his 7 starts. I'm gonna wait and see a little more

You definitely think Brock is average.

I'm cherry picking Mayfield's rookie season when he broke the TD record while on the worst team in the league with hue Jackson? I'm providing examples of players having good/great small stretches of football that never regained it. Acting like that's not a possibility with Brock is foolish. I'm also not saying he won't be great, I'm not tossing all my eggs into that basket right now though.

I don't think Brock is anything overall. He hasn't played enough for me to determine anything. He had some great moments. he had moments where passes could have gone very badly but didn't (like Jimmy in 2017) as well. Like Jimmy and Lance, he's gotta take care of himself and stop getting hurt.

Our fan base is so premature on what a player is or isn't. It's pretty wild

This is exactly why many of us, and the 49ers, preferred to keep Trey on the roster rather than trade him. There's been QB's who have had similar stretches on worse teams who are afterthoughts today. It would be moronic to trade away Lance without more evidence from Purdy that he can sustain the level of play we saw last year. Unfortunately, his injury makes that harder. Players often express frustration when they have to rehab in the off instead of preparing for the season for a reason.

Im rooting for Brock, he kind of reminds me of Drew Brees. I have faith he will recover from his injury and hope he returns to the excellence we saw last season. I also think that Trey still has a bright future in the league.

Thats context.

You can't compare the 2017 and 2022 rosters on offense. So no statistical comparison of tds or yards holds any water.

Who knows what 2017 Jimmy could've been had he not gotten hurt. His ability to create on 3rd downs was critical for that stretch. It was never replicated.

It's hard to explain why, but the entire team played much better when he took the job. It was noticeable across the board. Marquise Goodwin looked like a poor man's Tyreek Hill, lol.

That said I think a lot of the flaws in his game were readily visible especially in hindsight... and they were already cropping up in the short time we saw him play before he tore his ACL.

Brock improved the offense as much as Jimmy IMO. Jimmy was a fine QB for sure.

A decade of slightly above average play and zero playoff success, meh. Brock was better last year and is young while Cousins is in a decline.

Nick Foles had a 79 passer rating his rookie year.
Minshew posted a 91.

I think he has played better than either Jimmy or Kirk.

You feel the need to reply to any positive post about the guy with negativity.

Oh worse teams.

Jimmy had a 113.4 his last 4 games with a full time CMC.

I feel I need to give you perspective about how little a couple games means. I'm not saying he didn't play well either.

Jimmy got away with some stuff in 2017. Im not saying Brock was the same…but there was enough plays where he got away with some stuff in only 170 passing attempts. Time will tell

I'll root for whomever is playing. I'm gonna be objective about it as much as possible. IMO we need all our QBs and we will get some clarity this season

You feel the need to reply to a comment about how Brock played at a high level for the 49ers with Foles and Minshew whataboutisms?

Yes, because it supports your feelings about Trey deserving the starting job over Brock.

Personally I think Purdy's play was more promising and much more likely to be sustained.

I have concerns going forward, but they're pretty much isolated to whether or not he's going to shell shocked from his injury, and if his arm is diminished (which he can't afford).
